Bit of DIY today (see my stories for before and after!) Always remember that Active Daily Living (ADL) goes a long way towards sustaining a calorie deficit if fat loss is your goal..........breaking down and moving a ton of bricks today definitely upped my energy expenditure 🤘

Do you WANT or NEED it?
2 very different things which can easily be confused.
Ask yourself if it will give you just short term satisfaction or if it will make you feel better in the long run?
It's not been a great week for me and what I wanted to do was curl up on the sofa and eat my bodyweight in chocolate 🍫 but I knew that a walk and hitting my step target (just🚶♀️) would make me feel better for longer and keep me moving towards my future goals.
Choosing what you need a bit more often will help you get closer to where you want to be in the long run!

The beauty of Pilates is that it really is for Every Body!
It doesn't matter if you have never exercised before in your life or if you are an athlete at the top of your game, you will benefit from Pilates!
Tall or short, flexible or stiff, recovering from injury or just had a baby? Pilates does not judge and can be modified to suit YOU.
I run two weekly online classes and offer virtual 1-2-1's that can be done in the comfort of you own home. Message me to book a free consultation call and start your Pilates journey with me x
Something to warm up with 🥵
As I mentioned in my previous post, the plank position is featured in so many movements.
In this sequence I use it for controlled mountain climbers and press ups. The scapular squeeze and overhead extension are also great to add in to your warm up, especially if you are doing any overhead lifts.
If you do not have the mobility to extend your arms overhead, just try the scap squeeze at the bottom of your press up keeping your arms bent and include some hovers elsewhere in your warm up (more on these later in the week).
Let me know if you give it a go!

The Plank
So many other movements involve the plank in some form. Therefore, it is really important to get your technique right so that you can recognise when your positioning is correct during more complex movements.
My tips for nailing the plank every time:
1) Drive your forearms and toes into floor.
2) Try to create full body tension by queezing your glutes, quads and fists.
3) Imagine your toes and elbows being drawn towards each other.
4) Do not let your head drop down towards the floor.
5) Lengthen your tailbone towards your heels and draw you belly button towards your spine.
Give it a go and see how it feels!
