Finding the right tutor isn't just about qualifications. πŸ’›

It's about fit. Patience. The ability to make a child feel calm enough to actually be present.

When that match is right, everything else tends to follow.

πŸ“‹ An EHCP is there to set out the support a child needs clearly and consistently.

When it is written well, it helps everyone move in the same direction.

Some wording in Section F can feel open to interpretation, which is why clarity in these plans matters so much.

Our blog explores how parents can read an EHCP with more confidence, what to look out for, and how clearer communication can strengthen support for children.

A clearer plan helps create better alignment between home, school and everyone involved in the child’s learning journey πŸ”πŸ’›

For children with sensory sensitivities, autism, or ADHD, the environment costs energy before a single lesson begins. This is the energy budget. On hard days, it's already overspent by first period.

When we understand the hidden workload children carry, we stop asking why they seem "switched off", and start asking what we can take off their plate instead. πŸ’›

At Bright Heart, our tutoring is built on a proven psychological blueprint: Carl Rogers’ concept of Unconditional Positive Regard.

We just call it warmth ❀️

For a long time, traditional education treated warmth as a "nice-to-have." The science says otherwise.

A mind anchored in a safe, positive emotional state learns faster, retains more, and builds genuine resilience.

The reality of learning:
πŸ«₯ Pressure produces short-term compliance.
🌞 Warmth builds long-term capability.

Our approach is a welcome shift for students who have disengaged or struggled to find their voice.

🌿 Grass under your feet. Wind in your face. Nothing due. Nowhere to be.

For children who spend their days managing sensory overload, social pressure, or the relentless demands of a classroom, the outdoors offers something genuinely rare: an environment that asks nothing of them.

Research in ecotherapy and childhood development is clear. Time in nature lowers cortisol, improves focus, and restores attention in ways that screen breaks simply can't replicate. For children navigating ADHD, anxiety, or sensory challenges, this isn't just nice, it's necessary 🌱

Grateful today for every park, every garden, every muddy walk that quietly did its job πŸ’š

Happy World Environment Day.

Bright Heart was founded in 2018 after it was recognised that a better approach was needed for working with students with SEND.

A narrow, grade-focused approach can be limiting, especially for those students who have not had the easiest time in school. An approach was needed that accounted for the whole person, and with heart ❀️. This is our heart-based approach. This is what we hire on and embody in our team and tutors. ⭐

When a child is dysregulated (flooded, shut down, or overwhelmed) their brain won't process new information.

It's not attitude. It's not laziness. It's neuroscience.

Emotional regulation is a learned skill. It develops gradually, with the right modelling, the right environment, and the right adult responses. 🌱

If your child struggles to settle before a session, shuts down when they feel frustrated, or finds it hard to move on from a mistake... that's the starting point, not an obstacle to work around.

Our tutors are trained to work with this, not past it.

You might think all tutoring agencies are the same. Find a tutor. Book sessions. Hope for the best πŸ’™

Most are.

What most agencies don't have is a team of education consultants overseeing every child's journey, independently of the tutor.

That means someone qualified is reviewing what's working, flagging what isn't, and adjusting the plan before a problem becomes a pattern πŸ“‹

It means your child isn't just matched with a good tutor. They're supported by a whole structure designed to keep things on track πŸ’›
