A positive future does not need to be figured out all at once. 💜

This year's Youth Mental Health Day theme, , is a reminder that progress can happen one manageable step at a time.

For young people, those steps might look like:
🌱 asking for support
💬 saying how they really feel
📚 trying something they previously avoided
💛 recognising what they are already doing well

Learning and emotional wellbeing do not exist in separate boxes.

A young person who feels safe, heard and supported has a stronger foundation from which to learn, grow and imagine what comes next.

Today, and every day, we hope young people know they do not need to navigate everything alone.

SEN is not one experience, neither should support be. 🧩

Bright Heart works with children and young people across a wide range of additional needs, including ADHD, anxiety, Autism Spectrum Condition, PDA,dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, sensory processing challenges and social, emotional and mental health needs.

Some students may have a diagnosis.

Others may simply know that traditional learning environments have never quite worked for them.

National Inclusion Week may focus on the workplace, but inclusion does not suddenly begin with someone's first job. 🩷

Tomorrow's workforce is sitting in classrooms today.

The environments children experience now help shape how they learn to participate, communicate, contribute and feel that they belong.

That means inclusion needs to go further than simply making space for a child.

🗣️ Are they part of the conversation?

💻For some children, online tuition can actually create a learning environment where they feel more comfortable, focused and able to engage.

Bright Heart's online tuition still starts with the same thing our in person support does: understanding the student first.

We carefully match tutors to individual needs and use purpose built online learning tools, including Pencil Spaces, to make lessons interactive, accessible and engaging.

There is space to share resources, work together on a virtual whiteboard and revisit lesson content afterwards.

Carl Rogers’ person centred theory was built around a simple idea: people are more likely to grow when they feel understood, accepted and supported. 💛

For students, that matters.

When a child feels heard rather than judged, and supported rather than pressured, it can create the emotional safety they need to participate, ask questions and keep trying. 🌱

Rogers also believed in self actualisation, the idea that people have an inner drive to develop towards their potential when the right conditions are in place.
