*A Damaged Image Has to Go*

November 6, 2024

*Today's Scripture*
“But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!”
Judges 6:15, NLT

*Today's Word*
Too often we don’t realize that our self-image has been damaged. We’ve been through hurts and disappointments and made mistakes, then we wonder why we can’t rise higher. It’s similar to what happened with Gideon. When an angel showed up and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you,” he was afraid and hiding from the enemy. Gideon’s image was “least one, poorest, defeated, can’t do anything great.” God’s image was “mighty hero, fearless courage, history maker.” Here’s the key: You can’t keep your damaged image and have God’s, too. You have to give God your image. Let Him control how you see yourself—not the media, not your family, not your job, not your critics. God knows what’s in you. He will help you become what you want to be. Is a wrong image keeping you from your greatness? Have you believed lies such as, “You’re too old, too young, not smart enough, not gifted”? That’s okay. You’re right where Gideon was. You can still become a mighty hero. Give God your image. See yourself the way He sees you.

*Prayer For Today*
“Father God, thank You for the call to get my hopes up, to start expecting things to change, to wake up what You put in me. Thank You that I am not limited by my past, by dysfunction passed down through my family, or by what others have said about me. I believe that You are going to help me rise up and be a mighty hero. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

*Pruning*

July 25, 2024

*Today's Scripture*
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
John 15:1–2, NIV

*Today's Word*
Sometimes God will remove things in our lives that we don’t understand. Perhaps He will remove a friendship, someone who’s pulling us down, causing us to compromise. We don’t like change. We were comfortable. Now we’re going to have to stretch and grow. Don’t fight the pruning of the branch. God knows what He’s doing. He’s not going to leave something on you that will keep you from your purpose. He’ll never ask you to do something and then not give you the ability to do it. If He’s asking you to walk away from an unhealthy relationship, you know a season is coming to an end for your good. If you resist it, you’re going to miss the greater things God has in store. Let Him remove what He knows is keeping you from the true you He created you to be. He’s not trying to take something from you; He’s trying to get something better to you. He wants to bring out the true you. The true you is more fruitful, more blessed, and more successful than you can imagine.

*Prayer For Today*
“Father God, thank You for knowing what’s best for my life and for tending over me as a gardener. Thank You for times of pruning when You cut back something in my life so I can bear more fruit. I believe that Your purpose is to bring something better into my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

*Take Care of You*

MAY 29, 2024

*Today's Scripture*
Proverbs 24:10, NKJV
If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

*Today's Word*
When people are making a lot of withdrawals from your life, you have to make sure you’re putting in a lot of deposits. If you’re giving and giving and never filling back up, you’ll be depleted and weak. Don’t live with a hero mentality and let people make constant withdrawals from you without making deposits that refresh you. When you get spiritually run-down, emotionally drained, physically worn-out, it raises your blood pressure, causes you to live stressed, and you’ll be no fun to be around. If you’re not taking time to get away and rest, you’ll be living far below your potential. You won’t be as good a parent, spouse, leader, or friend.
Nobody can make this change except you. If you don’t learn to say no to some demands, you won’t have strength for the day of adversity. You have to say, “I’m making some adjustments to my schedule. My well-being is more important than keeping everyone happy.” You have to make it a priority to stay in balance. Take care of you.

*Prayer for Today*
“Father God, thank You that You have called me to love and help others, but not to the point of becoming depleted and weak. Help me to protect my own peace and well-being. I declare that I will take care of myself and be strong for the day of adversity. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

*He Is Faithful*

APR 21, 2024

*Today's Scripture*
Hebrews 13:5–6, NKJV
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

*Today's Word*
God is faithful to His Word. All of His promises are “Yes” and “Amen.” That means if you will do your part and believe even though it looks impossible, and not let your mind, your emotions, or other people talk you out of it, then God promises in due season and at the right time He will bring it to pass. When He says, “I will never fail you,” He is saying, “Everything will work out. I’m in complete control. I know what the medical report says. I know what the financial situation looks like. I see the people who are coming against you. I know how big your dreams are. I will not let you down. I will not let that problem overtake you. I will cause you to be the overcomer.”
Dare to trust Him. Come back to that place of peace. Quit being worried, stressed out, wondering if it will happen. God has you in the palms of His hands. He has never once failed before, and the good news is that He is not about to start now.

*Prayer for Today*
“Father God, thank You for Your faithfulness, for being my vindicator, and for fighting my battles for me. Thank You that You will never, never fail me nor leave me. I believe that You’re working behind the scenes on my most difficult situation, and that it’s all coming together. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

*Refined*

APR 16, 2024

*Today's Scripture*
Isaiah 48:10, NIV
“See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.”

*Today's Word*
The Scripture talks about the “furnace of affliction,” where you could either give up and get sour or you can say, “God, I’ll show You what I’m made of. I’ll forgive those who hurt me. I’ll keep believing even though it looks impossible. I’ll stay in faith even though it was unfair.” When you pass those tests, something is deposited inside that nothing can take away. There is a trust, a confidence, a knowing that can be developed only by going through the fire of affliction. I’ve learned that God is not as interested in changing my circumstances as He is in changing me.
Where you are today is not nearly as important as who you are becoming. While God is changing the “where,” allow Him to change the “who.” God puts us in the furnace to refine us, to take out the impurities, the selfishness, impatience, anger, and resentment. If you let God refine you and make the necessary changes in your life so you treat people well and handle disappointments without complaining, you can be used for God’s highest purposes.

*Prayer for Today*
“Father God, thank You that You are refining my life with fire and using the pressure of challenges to make me stronger and grow my character. Thank You that every test of my faith is preparing me to overcome and persevere, to go higher and increase. I believe that I am coming out better. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

*Right Desires*

MAR 15, 2024

*Today's Scripture*
Exodus 7:3–5, NIV
“But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, he will not listen to you.…And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

*Today's Word*
When God told Moses to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelite slaves go free, He also caused Pharoah to harden his heart to say no. God put the desire in him to be stubborn. Why? So that He would receive great glory at Pharaoh’s expense. God went on to perform great miracles so the Egyptian people knew He was the true God. It was a part of His plan so the Israelites could fulfill their purpose.
How much more will God put desires in you so you can fulfill your destiny? You don’t have to fear the future or worry about whether you will be making the right choices. Just keep honoring God. Your part is to commit your ways to Him every morning and say, “Lord, let Your will be done and not mine. I put You first place.” God’s part is to put the right desires in you that are strong enough to where you step into His will. This is how He will lead you into the best plan that He’s already laid out.

*Prayer for Today*
“Father God, thank You that You are the Almighty God who is working in all things for my good. Thank You that as I put You first, You are putting desires in my heart that will lead me to fulfill my purpose. I will walk in peace, knowing You are taking me down the best path for my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

*Be Conformed to the Right Image*

MAR 13, 2024

*Today's Scripture*
Romans 8:29, NIV
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.

*Today's Word*
The reason some people are so stressed and run-down is they feel they have to perform, pretend, and keep up with their friends and others. They have their image on the throne and do things to protect how they’re seen. But you need to take your image off the throne and put God back on the throne. If others only accept you if you perform to their standards, they’re not true friends. It’s such a freedom when you can be real, be vulnerable, and not worry about what other people think. If you’re obsessed with your image, you can’t be conformed to the image of Jesus, and you’re not going to become who you were created to be.
You don’t have to hide or pretend or worry about what people will think. The people who look like they have it all together have issues too. Everyone is dealing with something. Don’t waste another day trying to get their approval. You don’t need them to validate you. Almighty God has already approved you. Be confident in who God made you to be.

*Prayer for Today*
“Father God, thank You that You predestined me to be conformed to the image of Jesus. Thank You that I can get off the treadmill of impressing and pleasing others and just live for Your approval. I’m going to live confidently and boldly be the person You created me to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

*Wonderfully Made*

MAR 08, 2024

*Today's Scripture*
Psalm 139:14, NIV
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

*Today's Word*
The Scripture says we’ve been fearfully and wonderfully made, but the enemy doesn’t want you to see yourself that way. He puts up distorted mirrors to change your self-image. When you look in the distorted mirror, even though you’ve been forgiven and redeemed, all you see is your mistakes, failures, and times you didn’t measure up. The person looking back at you in the distorted mirror is guilty and unworthy. That’s not who you really are.
If life has treated you unfairly, you’ll see yourself in that distorted mirror as a victim, defeated, with nothing good in your future. But the truth is that God has beauty for those ashes. What was meant for harm, He’s turning to your advantage. What’s the problem? You’re looking in the wrong mirror. As long as you’re letting that distorted image define who you are, it will keep you from rising higher. Get rid of that mirror and go to God’s Word. Let Him define your image. If you will see yourself the way God sees you, it will begin to heal a damaged self-image.

*Prayer for Today*
“Father God, thank You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image. Thank You that I am not any of the negatives that the enemy tries to use to distort the image of who I really am. I believe that nothing can hold me back from becoming all that You created me to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
