Last Sunday, the Institute held our 144th Annual General Meeting.
In the the aftermath of a fantastic week in Liverpool, we Zoomed in to hear a debrief from our Vice President, Ian Roberts, on Intersteno’s 55th Congress, and to give another huge round of applause to Cate Kollhof for winning gold in Speech Capturing (Seniors), and Claire Hill for silver. The ladies also tied for the bronze in the Realtime (Seniors), along with Daniele Casarola from Italy.
We’ll link the Intersteno Results Table in the comments below, just because we are extremely proud of each and every member who competed, whether they medalled, ranked, or simply took part.
And, once again, a huge vote of thanks to our Intersteno Committee for the tremendous work in helping bring this event to fruition; all the BIVR members who volunteered their time and energy staffing the registration desk and helping out whenever needed; those who captioned various seminars; and, of course, our Social Media Liaison, Leah Willersdorf, for keeping everyone up to speed.
We still have a few months to go in our 160th anniversary year, and we are delighted to announce our President for the coming year is Sheryll Holley, who has previously served as both President and Vice President. Alan Bell, our Immediate Past President, now becomes Vice President, while Mary Sorene continues in her role as Secretary and Treasurer.
We also have a Betty Willett Award recipient this year (Ian Roberts), as well as two new Life Members (Rachel Lloyd and Franny Barrett). There will be dedicated posts for each of these deserving recipients in due course, so keep an eye out!
For now, although we’re a week into the post-Intersteno comedown, we’re thoroughly invigorated by the whole event, not to mention the excellent results achieved by some of our members.
And so as we return to normality, we’ll continue sharing a little Intersteno content here and there, just in case anybody is experiencing withdrawals!
