We have been doing a tomato and banana experiment.
We have been talking about how the gasses of the banana turns the green tomatoes red. 🍌🍅
We also picked lots of our tomatoes today and ate them at fruit time.
We learned about why we need to wash them and also peeled our own oranges too 🍊
We had lots of fun in the back garden. We watered the flowers and had some quiet time in the memorial garden reading a story together 📖

Our Top Tots have been taking about having BBQ's over the last few weeks and outdoor dining.
So yesterday we created our very own outdoor kitchen.
We had a food prep area, a cooking area and an eating space too.
We all played our part and took turns.
We chatted about safety and why we have to be careful around the BBQ area.
Our Top Tots sat very patiently waiting for their turn, and everyone got involved 👩🏽‍🍳👨🏻‍🍳

Yesterday we had a day filled with texture and touch.
We spent the day exploring the way different things felt and practicing our describing words, like hard, soft, squidgy and squishy.
We compared sizes learningwhich was bigger, and smaller too.
We used our hand and eye coordination to fill and pour into various metal containers. We watched as the sand fell through and the chick peas stayed in because of their size.
But most of all....
We played and had fun with our friends 😊

This beautiful weather is definitely helping our garden grow! Its also opening up lots of natural learning opportunities...

Its also opening up lots of natural learning opportunities looking at what we can do to nurture and support their growth. 🪴

Lots of a little green thumbs this afternoon. Cutting back plants and putting them in the compost. Planting the basil to make our tomatoes tastier. Picking the ripe tomatoes, cleaning and tasting them. Finding and placing stones around the tomato and basil plants to stop the foxes from digging them up. And lots and lots of hand watering including the fruit trees. 🥬

The garden is thriving and our Top Tots are enjoying discovering their green fingers 🍅

Sad week this week as we said goodbye to some of our school leavers from both our TTDC and TT2 settings.
Our Top Tots are off for the six weeks as they prepare to go off on their new adventure.
We would like to thank each and every one of them for sharing their most precious years with us here at TTDC, and wish them lots of love and luck for the next challenge ahead 🤩
