Thank you so much to all staff, students and families who donated a coat to our charity collection. The whole SJC community truly came together.
Mr Medley and Miss Canavan took a small group of boys to Norbury Fire Station to deliver the incredible haul. The crew on duty were blown away, both by the sheer volume of coats and by the impeccable behaviour of our students. They even gave the group a mini tour of the station, complete with a seat in the fire truck!
We are incredibly proud to be part of such a generous and thoughtful school community. Together, we’ve helped make a small difference to families who may need it this winter.

A Truly Inspiring Return to St Joseph’s College
Tonight we had the honour of welcoming back Mr Stephen Akinsanya, who served as Head Boy in 1986, to deliver the keynote speech at our Awards Evening, and what a speech it was.
Stephen shared powerful reflections with our students, parents and staff:
“Success has no value if you leave people behind.”
“Your journey starts here just as mine did.”
There were countless other moments of wisdom too, but I was so captivated by his words that it was hard to capture them all.
Stephen’s extraordinary career speaks for itself.
He is recognised as:
“An excellent and experienced advocate with a thoughtful and careful manner. A barrister of high integrity and dedication who secures the trust of judge and jury. His advocacy combines intellectual rigour with emotional intelligence. A talented criminal barrister who always goes the extra mile to support those in need.”
— Legal 500, 2025
With 29 years in private practice as a criminal barrister, Stephen continues to exemplify the values we hold dear at St Joseph’s, integrity, determination, compassion, and service to others.
We are incredibly grateful he returned to inspire the next generation of Josephians. 💙💛

This week at SJC, we’ve been shaping up with Geometry Week, diving into angles, circles, and everything in between. We wrapped it all up today with a proper celebration of Pi Day—because what’s Geometry Week without a little love for the number that never ends?
As we explored circles, we couldn’t help but think about how π goes on forever—kind of like the friendships made here at SJC. And speaking of π, it starts as 3.1415926535… and keeps going, just like the life lessons our students take with them long after the last time they walk out of these gates.
We also had some fun with our trusty protractors, though we couldn’t help but wonder: Why did the protractor break up with the ruler? It just couldn’t find any common angles.
Here’s to a week as infinite and well-rounded as 3.1415926535…!

International Women’s Day at St Joseph’s College
Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible women who are part of our St Joseph’s College community—past and present. While we may be an all-boys school up to Year 11, our Sixth Form is proudly coeducational, and we are fortunate to have amazing female students, alumni, and staff, and of course one of our incredible Co-Headteachers, Mrs Kane.
At St Joseph’s, we believe in fostering a culture of respect, equality, and empowerment. Through initiatives like Healthy Masculinity workshops and sessions on healthy relationships, we equip our boys with the skills to build positive, respectful relationships and develop a strong sense of healthy masculinity.
We are committed to ensuring our girls feel empowered and that our boys understand the importance of equality and respect—values that will shape them into well-rounded individuals ready to contribute to a more inclusive world.
Happy International Women’s Day!

📚World Book Day at SJC! 📚
On Thursday, we came together to celebrate World Book Day—a day dedicated to the magic of stories and the joy of reading!
From staff dressing up as literary characters (shoutout to our English Department for becoming poems from the GCSE Anthology!) to the Design & Technology team transforming their workshop into Ollivander’s Wand Shop, the college was buzzing with creativity.
Students in Years 7 & 8 explored the choices authors make and even designed their own characters, while our book ‘sale’ in the sunshine raised funds for supporting their incredible global justice work.
Meanwhile, our “Locked in the Library” escape room challenge, led by Mrs Owen and the English team, has seen teams racing to solve puzzles and uncover hidden treasures—who will be crowned the fastest?
A huge thank you to everyone who made the day so special. Here’s to more stories, more creativity, and a lifelong love of books! 📖❤️

Keeping Our Students Safe
Last week, our Year 8 and 9 students took part in an important assembly led by
💙Year 8 focused on knife crime and how to stay safe.
💙Year 9 learned about child criminal exploitation and county lines.
These are serious issues, and it’s vital that our boys are educated and empowered to make the right choices. A huge thank you to Shadrach for delivering such a powerful and engaging session!
