A LEVEL RESULTS 2026 | WELL DONE, SJC!

A brilliant morning celebrating our Sixth Form students and everything they have achieved.

This year has seen some fantastic improvements across our results:

A*–A grades up 12%*
A–B grades up 21%*
A–C grades up 16%**
Applied General average rises from Merit+ to Distinction-
Technical qualification average rises from Distinction to Distinction+

But today is about much more than statistics.

It is about the students behind them, the work they have put in and the exciting next steps ahead of them.

Today our Year 10 Geographers headed out to the beautiful River Tillingbourne for a hands on fieldwork experience with the Field Studies Council.

Students visited two different sites along the river, carrying out a range of investigations to explore how river characteristics change downstream. From measuring river width, depth and velocity to analysing sediment size, our students put their classroom learning into practice in a real world environment.

The students engaged brilliantly throughout the day, developing key geographical skills including data collection, teamwork, observation and enquiry-based investigation.

And what a day for it too! We were truly blessed with the weather, making for a fantastic day of learning beyond the classroom.

Year 5 Taster Sessions

We are delighted to be welcoming Year 5 students to St Joseph’s College for our upcoming taster sessions.

These sessions are designed to give pupils a real experience of secondary school life, with the opportunity to take part in a range of engaging activities across different subjects. From creative and practical tasks to exploring our facilities, it’s a chance to build confidence and get a feel for what learning at St Joseph’s is like.

We know that moving to secondary school can feel like a big step, and these sessions are a great way to make that transition feel more familiar and exciting.

We are looking forward to welcoming local primary schools over the coming weeks.

The Summer Term is always a busy and important one, and there is plenty to look forward to over the coming weeks.

Across the school, students will be preparing for and sitting key examinations, including GCSEs and A-Levels, alongside Year 10 PPEs. There are also a number of trips and events planned, giving students the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and experience something new.

We are looking forward to welcoming families in for events such as Year 8 Parents’ Evening, as well as continuing to support our Year 11 students through intervention sessions and morning breakfasts with Sixth Form.

There’s a real sense of focus and purpose across the school already, and we are excited to see everything this term will bring.

Welcome back to the Summer Term.

It’s already been a fantastic start to what is always a big and important term, and it’s been great to see the school full of energy, focus and positivity from day one.

This week has been a brilliant reflection of that. Our Year 11 students have been working incredibly hard in after school English intervention sessions, showing real commitment as they prepare for their GCSES.

A special well done to Joshua and Caden for their thoughtful and creative developments in their Art projects, it’s been great to see their ideas come together.

We also ended last term on a high with our House competition, where students across all year groups showed fantastic teamwork and enthusiasm.

Sport has been strong this week too. Year 9 secured an impressive 86–24 win against Ark Blake, while Year 7 played their first game of the season, narrowly losing 32–27 to Woodcote in a closely fought match.

A really positive start, and plenty more to come this term.

SJC House STEM Challenge Results!

Our Design & Build a Straw Bridge Challenge brought out some brilliant engineering across the Houses this week.

🥇 1st – Hill
🥈 2nd – Beulah
🥉 3rd – Dane

Bridges were judged on innovation, strength under testing and overall design, with some really creative builds across the competition.

A special 50 bonus House points go to Dane for excellent teamwork.

It was great to see students from different year groups working together and representing their Houses.

Next up in the race (no pun intended) for the House Cup:

Thank you so much to all staff, students and families who donated a coat to our charity collection. The whole SJC community truly came together.

Mr Medley and Miss Canavan took a small group of boys to Norbury Fire Station to deliver the incredible haul. The crew on duty were blown away, both by the sheer volume of coats and by the impeccable behaviour of our students. They even gave the group a mini tour of the station, complete with a seat in the fire truck!

We are incredibly proud to be part of such a generous and thoughtful school community. Together, we’ve helped make a small difference to families who may need it this winter.

A Truly Inspiring Return to St Joseph’s College

Tonight we had the honour of welcoming back Mr Stephen Akinsanya, who served as Head Boy in 1986, to deliver the keynote speech at our Awards Evening, and what a speech it was.

Stephen shared powerful reflections with our students, parents and staff:
“Success has no value if you leave people behind.”
“Your journey starts here just as mine did.”

There were countless other moments of wisdom too, but I was so captivated by his words that it was hard to capture them all.

Stephen’s extraordinary career speaks for itself.

He is recognised as:
