We’re incredibly proud of our Milliken team of volunteers who gave their time and energy over the last two days at The Meadows!

The Meadows in Appley Bridge is a vibrant community space managed by the Appley Bridge Community Association. Once an industrial site, it’s now home to allotments, a community orchard, and a wildflower meadow - complete with walking paths, seating, and nature trails. It’s a welcoming spot for locals and visitors to enjoy nature and relax.

Over two days, our associates rolled up their sleeves and made a real difference. Across the site, they gave the allotments a complete refresh, clearing paths, litter picking, strimming overgrown areas, mulching trees with bark, and helping to make the space more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

In the woodlands, a team carried out coppicing work and built a dead hedge to protect the hedgehog conservation area. The team also built a brand new bug hotel from scratch! Amazing work everyone!

We can’t wait to welcome the Mix Interiors 30 under 30 winners and Managing Editor of Mix, Harry McKinley, to our London Showroom today!

The annual event, organised by Mix Interiors, celebrates emerging talent in commercial interior design and architecture across the UK.

Milliken’s Kate Collier explains why this initiative struck a chord and made the company want to be a sponsor: “We’re excited to be hosting Mix Interiors and the next generation of design talent in our showroom. We can't wait to meet the winners and celebrate with them. Milliken has a long history of supporting young and emerging designers. For many years we have partnered with Loughborough University; setting a practical design challenge to undergraduate students. And over the last 4 years we’ve established a paid intern programme where a design student spends a year with us in our London showroom.”

As part of Community Week, 15 Milliken volunteers visited Beech Hill Community Primary School to host an inspiring Careers Fair for Year 5 and 6 students.

Associates brought their roles to life through fun, interactive activities, giving students a glimpse into the wide range of career opportunities available.

The creativity doesn't stop there. Students are now taking part in their own design challenge, creating carpet tile concepts inspired by what they've learned.

We can't wait to see their ideas later this week. Could we be looking at the next generation of design talent?

Our Senior Account Manager Alex Keappock will provide a RIBA accredited seminar on 'Designing for neuroinclusive workplaces: A focus on flooring.'

Kate Collier, Senior Marketing Communications Manager at Milliken Floors Europe gives some context: "This is a great opportunity for us to connect with others who share our passion. As a leading flooring designer and manufacturer we aim to be at the forefront of the most pertinent themes informing workplace design.
