INFLUENCE
What can you actually control? Several times over the years, I have said to athletes, coaches and clients "control the controllables". But if we sit down and think about it, what can you control? Not much, but you can influence several areas:
Your body.
Your friends and family.
Your work.
Your training.
Your breathing.
Your environment.
Your sleep.
Once you start to understand that, it becomes about developing the skill of influence.
When it comes to control, the only real things that we can develop are our thoughts and reactions to situations.

Of course, you need to play your sport.
If I want to get better at cooking, I need to cook.
If you want to get better at your sport, you need to play. Sports coaches have always used this as a point of discussion.
But the problem is that playing your sport should be the highest level of intensity. Imagine playing rugby every day; you would be F**KED.
So you need to find other ways to improve outside of competition.
Your strength and conditioning programme should support your sport; it should allow you to express yourself during the game and reduce the risk of injury.
Let's be fair, most of us would significantly improve our sports performance if we increased our aerobic fitness and our general strength.
SO DON’T TRY TO RECREATE YOUR SPORT IN THE GYM.
USE THE GYM TO SUPPORT YOUR SPORT.

TRAINING IS IMPORTANT BUT....
There are massive opportunities outside the gym work to develop as a high performer.
Your sport is your passion, but you need to work and spend time with your friends and family.
Here are seven things that need to be done outside of training to support your performance and life.
Which one needs attention?

Here are five training techniques for growth & hypertrophy.
1. Drop Sets
2. Force Reps
3. Partial Reps
4. Superset and giant sets
5. Loaded stretch
A few points to add:
- You should not use all of them in one session
- These are advanced techniques so if you are new to training, I would use very sparingly (Apart from supersets)
- Form is essential
- Towards the end of a session is normal the best place to programme

Why Progress over Perfection is the Key to Success in Your Journey?
Focus on progress, not perfection.
To strive for progress, not perfection, means that you should appreciate and be proud of your work. You shouldn’t be focused on what something could or should be instead. Focus on the small steps, the positive ways to improve yourself, and moving forward. Do not always compare yourself to others but rather compete with yourself.
We need to remember to push ourselves and embrace progress, no matter what the goal is. Perfection doesn’t exist!
I hope this reminder will help and motivate you.
Not seeing as much progress as you’d like in your training? DM us to see how we can help you.

BUILD A WALL
I strongly recommend you read or listen to book. Even if it is just the first part, ‘The Wall’.
Here he talks about the importance of focusing on the small achievable goals.
Right now, so many of us are writing down goals for 2022. But most people spend too much time thinking about the ‘wall’ instead of the ‘brick’.
What is your brick for tomorrow?
What is that one thing that you need to do every day?
Everyone is trying to build walls, but those that succeed are the ones that lay bricks every single day.

The journey to upgrading your life begins with a mindset. Mindset is important. So where do you start upgrading it?
First, determine the mindset you need and act as if you already have that mindset. Law of attraction, right? You have to believe you can have what you want, and you have to feel like you already have it.
Next, be determined to step out from your comfort zone and don't be afraid of the challenges. Stepping out of your comfort zone is important because it will let you live life to its fullest and it will help you mature and grow as an individual.
The last one that I can share is that, create new powerful habits to support your mindset change and prove to your mind that you can grow and learn. Set new goals per month, maybe as a gradual challenge, and develop a new point of view in all aspects of your life.
Be intentional in upgrading your life, your mindset.
Now, are you ready to upgrade your mindset? Your dreams are waiting for you, all you have to do is make the choice!
I would love to assist you in operating on a higher mindset, DM mindset.
