The Sewing Sanctuary The Sewing Sanctuary provides a haven away from busy life to progress sewing projects, eat delicious homemade cake and have good old chat.

The Sewing Sanctuary Group provides a creative space for members to progress their own individual projects under the expert guidance of Lorraine Turnbull and Kathryn Gurney, our resident tutors. Lorraine has many years of experience in all aspects of sewing and expertly guides our members through interesting and challenging projects that would otherwise be too tricky to attempt alone. Kathryn has

also been teaching since 2009 and last year was presented with the converted Tutor of the Year Award by Cheadle and Marple College. We provide a range of books, magazines and sewing patterns to look at for inspiration and each week founding members Sarah and Helen create a beautiful homemade cake to be enjoyed with a cup of tea and coffee. The group meets during term time only, at a cost of £45 per 5 week block. Sewers provide their own materials and bring sewing machines. Free parking is available directly outside the community centre, with easy access into the building.
