🗣️"The message is clear: our universities are central to the economic and social prosperity of our country, and I hope they are very high on the priority list of our new Prime Minister." - Pam Cox MP, Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary University Group (APPUG).

Excellent to hear our Future Universities work recognised in parliament yesterday and to hear about the value universities bring to their communities.

Universities sit at the heart of their local areas, connecting skills, opportunities, driving innovation and supporting growth. As a new Prime Minister prepares to take office, we're ready to work with government to ensure universities can deliver for the future. 💡

We know the world is changing and universities are changing too. Through Future Universities, we're listening to businesses, communities and students, and building a long-term vision for how higher education can play its fullest part in shaping the country's future prosperity.

Put universities on the priority list. We're ready to talk. 🤝

📣 Today we launch Future Innovators.
In doing so, we're setting the goal to help double the level of private investment flowing into UK university innovation by 2035.
📊 University spin-outs, start-ups and social enterprises are areas of high growth potential, and have seen real success over the past decade. But momentum has slowed, and the global race for innovation capital is intensifying. To compete, we need to scale more world-class research into world-class businesses, in every region of the UK.
🤝 Future Innovators brings together investors, founders, business leaders and government to make the UK the best place in the world to start and scale a university spin-out.
We are putting that into practice at our reception at The Royal Society this evening. Sponsored by Lloyds, up to 600 leaders from across academia, industry, government and investment gather to answer the question: How do we make the UK the best place in the world to start and scale a high-growth business?

Encouraging to see support for our Future Universities work in the House of Lords last week. 👏

Through our Future Universities series, we’re listening to businesses, communities and students across the UK to think seriously about the future of higher education.

This is about more than responding to immediate pressures. It’s about building a long-term plan for higher education that works for us all, and recognising that change is essential for universities to play their part in driving the UK’s future prosperity. 📈

We look forward to engaging with more parliamentarians as our work continues. 🤝
