London Medieval Society

London Medieval Society The London Medieval Society is a forum for crossdisciplinary and interdisciplinary discussions about the Middle Ages.

The LMS organises three colloquia each year. At the autumn and spring colloquia, speakers deliver short papers in response to a single theme. Recent themes have included Courts and Courtliness, Honour and Reputation, Gift Giving, Blood, and Peace. The third colloquium offers an opportunity for postgraduates to present their work and to discuss their ideas with fellow medievalists. The deadline for panels and papers for the 2019 Chaucer Biennial Conference, on 'Chaucer and Europe' is fast approaching! Papers can be on any medieval literature and Europe, not just Chaucer, and we also encourage proposals that interrogate or critique the topic, as well as those which directly relate to it.

Chaucer and Europe Friday 28 - Saturday 29 June 2019, Senate House, London call for papers Keynote addresses by Professor Laura Kendrick (University of Versailles) and Professor David Wallace (University of Pennsylvania).

The Conference will be held over the 13th-15th April, 2018, on the topic of “Sickness, Strife, and Suffering”.
