Ever thought about hosting your own fitness retreat? Maybe you feel unsure where to start?

There’s so much to weigh up, from venues, to hosting, to marketing. It could be easy to get overwhelmed. Retreats are increasingly popular, and are a great way to boost income in summer quiet periods.

One Pilates instructor shares what she learned after her first retreat.

Personal connection is your most powerful booking agent. Pilates instructor, Joanna Fernandes said promoting her retreat in class was the most effective method. One difficulty was getting people to commit in advance.

Surprisingly, the people who booked were not the group she assumed would be first in line.

The right venue is your retreat’s foundation. Finding the right venue, with perfect facilities and food, gave Joanna the confidence to go ahead.

It was so successful that her next retreat is fully booked based on word of mouth!

What is core stabilisation? Morc Coulson explores:

Core stabilisation is about maintaining control and posture. It means the ability to maintain neutral spine during the transfer of load through the body to the
extremities.

This involves the nervous system which recruits the relevant muscles for stability and mobility.

Core stability relies on 3 interdependent mechanisms:
- Passive system including static tissue such as ligaments and vertebrae
- Active system which includes most muscles
- Neural control system - which co-ordinates movement

When training the core, what should be your focus?

Are you accidentally taking too much credit for your clients' results?

When you micromanage every detail of a programme, you inadvertently teach your clients that you carry the full burden of their success—or failure.

Justin Price, creator of The BioMechanics Method (available via FitPro), breaks down why playing the "all-knowing expert" often backfires, and why it might be the exact reason clients point fingers when progress stalls.

The Solution: Shift from Expert to Partner. Stop dictating and start collaborating. Read the full blog at Fitpro.com to learn how to guide your clients to take true ownership of their own recovery and relief.

Should you worry about microplastics?
Public concern about microplastics has ramped up recently.

There’s a widely quoted claim that we eat a credit card’s worth of plastic each week.

Our expert dietician Dr Linia Patel has taken a careful look at what we know, and don’t know so far.
Microplastics are now found across the environment and, increasingly, within our bodies.

What does it mean for our health? There are no long-term studies on humans yet.

Lab studies say that potential areas of concern are cell damage, gut health and inflammation, but the research is still unclear. So what should we do right now?

A balanced approach is key - reduce plastics where it’s viable and support your overall health.

Most of us need to eat more fibre - here's 10 ways to add more into your diet.

We need just 30 grams of fibre a day, but 96% of us don’t manage it. Fibre is more than a bulking agent, it feeds your gut microbiome. Healthy gut bacteria are involved in everything, from immunity to sleep.

It’s not just about the amount of fibre, but the quality and variation which keeps you healthy.

Our expert dietician Dr Linia Patel has some simple swaps to help you increase your fibre intake.

Different fibres feed different bacteria, at different sites in the colon, at different speeds. Feed only one type of bacteria and you starve the rest.

One simple swap is to switch to wholegrains, like pasta or brown rice.

Increase your fibre intake slowly, and drink plenty of water to avoid discomfort.

Beans and lentils are the most powerful sources of fibre. Add a handful to soups and stews. Dr Linia has 8 more fibre swaps for you on the FitPro blog. Find them at FitPro.com
