School of Beatbox is a social enterprise. Teaching the art of beatboxing to all ages and abilities. Hi, I'm Danny Ladwa, the founder of School of Beatbox.

I used to stammer (stutter) as a child. This happened when I was 9 years old. It affected my confidence and self-esteem in a big way and I didn't understand why all of a sudden the words I wanted to say just wouldn't come out. Often it would be my own name that I couldn't say. This lasted for 2 years until I was 11 years old. When I was 11 I discovered that I could make some pretty realistic drum

Teaching methods tested in real-time...

Over a 3-day period of beatbox workshops recent;y with different groups of children, Danny used each session as an opportunity to test and refine a teaching method.

The approach focused on using words as a bridge into rhythm creation.

Groups were given sets of words which they assembled into phrases. The phrases could be then be translated into rhythms using the core beatbox sounds (bass drum, hi hat and snare)

Some word patterns worked extremely well, while others didn’t translate effectively at all 😭

This created real-time learning challenges:
- how to adapt when ideas didn’t work
- how to guide the transition from words → sounds → rhythms
- how to maintain engagement while working closely with individuals in group settings

Only by running the process multiple times did it become clear that a key structural element was missing.

This reinforced an important principle of creative education work:
Real improvement doesn’t come from perfect planning — it comes from testing, adapting, and refining in real environments.

Love seeing how quickly kids go from
“wait… I can’t do that”
to
“listen to THIS 😄”

Building confidence, creativity, and getting kids expressing themselves in a completely different way.

The best part?
no instruments required… we'll get those voices warmed up and be good to go 🚀

If your child would love something like this, we also run online classes where they can learn from home and be part of a super fun, supportive group.

🎁 First class is completely FREE

Why this work matters, beyond the noises...

07/04/2026

I started beatboxing because speaking felt difficult, not to perform.

Having a stutter as a kid, there was a bit of hesitation around using my voice.
Beatboxing gave me a brand new way to express myself, without feeling any pressure.

My confidence built.

It completely changed my trajectory and shaped my career.

New review just in: These guys are great, really good with the kids and great at beatboxing. My son loves the classes, it's the only time we've known him to sit in a chair and concentrate for a full hour.

This is how quickly a group goes from unsure → engaged.

Beatboxing isn’t just performance.

It builds confidence, communication and engagement.

I’ve seen students who rarely speak 👉 join in.

I’ve seen teams go from hesitant 👉 to fully involved in minutes.

And I’ve had teachers tell me:
“I’ve never seen that student engage like that before.”

Rhythm creates a shared experience which quickly breaks down barriers.

That’s why this work has become about so much more than music.

This is when the energy in a room shifts…
when people realise what 'they' are capable of too.

Anyone with a voice can learn this art form.
