North London Collegiate School
Independent day school for girls from the ages of 4 to 18. Founded 1850 North London Collegiate is one of the historic schools of England.
Founded by the great Victorian education pioneer, Frances Mary Buss, the school has provided an exceptional education for girls for over 150 years.
Students from Artemis, Endeavour, Jemison, Kalpana and Minerva took to the stage today for the first ever House Talent Show!
We were treated to an Adele medley that filled the hall, astonishing magic tricks, the piano played blindfolded, intricate fingerstyle guitar, and a powerful performance of Skyfall. Even our staff stepped into the spotlight complete with a moment of surprise brilliance as Mrs Bingham showcased her touch‑typing talents!
Huge congratulations to every performer who shared their talent in front of the whole senior school today.
🏆 And a special congratulations to Kalpana, our first ever House Talent Show champions! 🏆
It wouldn’t be Giving Day without the now‑legendary Staff Lip Sync Battle! Teachers from the Science, Philosophy and Economics departments put on some outstanding performances today, with everything from Barbie Girl to Queen, plus a full medley featuring *NSYNC, the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys.
Thank you to everyone who took part and to the Big Six for organising. And a huge congratulations to Science on taking home this year’s win!

One week to go until Giving Day 2026!
This year, our focus is on two funds that speak to who we are and what we stand for.
The Bernice McCabe Bursary Fund reflects our conviction that brilliance is never defined by background. It ensures that girls can thrive at NLCS, regardless of financial means.
The Work in Hope Fund sustains the energy and ambition that define our School. It allows us to respond thoughtfully to a changing world and to keep shaping an education that is as forward looking as the girls themselves.

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, and our school community has come together to commemorate this important occasion through a series of meaningful events focused on remembrance and reflection.
Students across the school had the opportunity to hear from two inspiring speakers who shared powerful personal family testimonies of Holocaust survival, helping to deepen understanding of the past and its lasting impact.
We also gathered for our annual Holocaust Memorial Day Assembly, led by the Jewish Society Committee in Years 12 and 13. Committee members shared personal stories from their own families, bringing this year’s theme of Bridging Generations to life and reminding us of the importance of carrying these memories forward.
These events have been an invaluable opportunity for our students to reflect on humanity, moral courage, and the responsibility we all share to challenge prejudice and hatred.

Before the end of term, our Jewish Society brought the Senior and Junior School together to celebrate Chanukah, the festival of light. The celebrations included the annual Chanukah play, festive games and doughnuts, alongside a thoughtful moment of giving as students wrote cards for local care homes, reflecting the warmth and spirit of the festival.

We woke up to very good news at North London Collegiate School today.
The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026 has named us Independent Secondary School of the Year 2026 and in the Parent Power league tables, NLCS is ranked the No. 1 girls’ school in the country.
The Sunday Times Parent Power School of the Year award is the most prestigious recognition in British education, and we are delighted that this reflects not only academic excellence, but the depth and breadth of life at NLCS. It also shines a light on the power of girls’ only education that we will forever be proud to champion. In addition to this, we’ve also been named
• Independent International Baccalaureate School of the Year 2026
• Independent Secondary School of the Year in London 2026
This is a huge honour that recognises our commitment to delivering an ambitious educational experience to every girl. From higher mathematics to ethical questions about AI, from eighteen different sports to national girls’ chess titles, from VEX Robotics world qualifiers to ambitious drama productions, our students are encouraged to think hard, try things out and enjoy the process as much as the outcome.
In the Sixth Form, the IB Diploma and A levels sit alongside Surge, our start up academy, where students develop an entrepreneurial mindset. As a girls’ only school, every captain, robotics lead, editor and head of society is a girl, which shapes both daily life at Canons and the alumnae community that follows.
We are especially grateful to our colleagues for the care and energy they bring to school life, and to our parents for the trust they place in us, along with our ONL community for their continued support.

Wednesday evening's Choral and Orchestral Concert brought together a wide range of performances from across the school, showcasing the work our musicians have been preparing this term. The orchestras presented Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Dvořák’s Serenade and Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2, alongside repertoire from Haydn and Brahms.
The choral programme featured movements from the Brontë Trilogy as well as a selection of English and Scottish folk song arrangements, performed by our various vocal groups.
The evening highlighted the commitment and hard work of all our groups, with students from across different years contributing to a full and varied programme.
Congratulations to all our performers on a wonderful evening that highlighted the breadth of music being made across the school.
