From international diplomacy to government reform, this year’s Senior Societies Keynote Lecture offered students a fascinating glimpse into the power of leadership and communication.
We were delighted to welcome Gaby Gower OBE (ONL), Chair of Governors at NLCS, who shared lessons from a distinguished career at the forefront of foreign policy, national security and international affairs. Over more than two decades in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Gaby has worked on issues ranging from counter-terrorism and international diplomacy to government reform, as well as representing the UK on the global stage.
Through her lecture, Changing the World One Conversation at a Time, and a Q&A led by Senior Student Chloé, Gaby demonstrated how curiosity, empathy and meaningful dialogue can influence decisions, strengthen relationships and create lasting impact. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in diplomacy and international affairs, she encouraged students to see communication not simply as a skill, but as a powerful tool for leadership, collaboration and change.
