This experience meant more to me than simply trying an indoor firing range.

When I was young, my grandfather was shot. Since then, the sound of gunshots has always frightened me. It was a sound tied to a painful memory, something that stayed with me even as I grew older.

Today, I chose to face that fear.

I was nervous. The sound still made me flinch. But this time, I reminded myself that I was safe, that I was in control, and that I didnโ€™t have to let a painful memory dictate how I would feel forever.

Sometimes, conquering a fear doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re no longer afraid. Sometimes, it simply means finding the courage to face something that once terrified you.

Today was one of those days for me.

From fear to courage. From a painful memory to a new one I chose for myself.

Definitely one for the core memories. ๐Ÿค
