Sometimes you do things that are thrilling and also a bit challenging. On my recent trip to Ireland – my first ever – I visited Skellig Michael off the south west coast.

An incredible place and once the site of a monastery for 500 years. The monks rowed across the ocean for eight hours to get there. They carved steps out of the rock to build a monastery at the top. They survived on whatever they could grow and rain water. Sometimes religion can be responsible for really extreme acts!

There is also Little Skellig, which is in the video, and which is the site of the world‘s second largest gannet colony. I was lucky enough to see that too.

I didn’t do the landing tour onto Skellig Michael but we saw a lot from the boat. But it was a very choppy journey out in the Atlantic to get there!

I’ll be writing a blog post about my Ireland trip and sharing more photos soon.

As we get older, staying fit is less about appearance and more about ensuring our health and mobility into later life. I exercise daily for my present and future self.

You don’t need to become a different person or spend hours in the gym. You just need movement that works for your body and your life.

I’ve rounded up 9 women who make getting stronger, fitter and more mobile feel achievable.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what comes next.

Having recently turned 60, I’m increasingly interested in what lies beyond midlife and in my idea of entering the “youth of my elderhood.”

So I’ve created a special Next Chapter season of the Magnificent Midlife Podcast, bringing together some of the brilliant conversations from the archives about reinvention, change, creativity, healing and creating a life that feels right for you.

Because there’s no one way to do a next chapter. And it’s never too late to start writing one.

What are you ready to make space for in your next chapter?

You can listen to the full episode wherever you usually listen: The Magnificent Midlife Podcast #201. The podcast can also be found at magnificentmidlife.com/podcast

There are magical moments in a life and this is one of them for me. I was at the end of my first day hiking the Cleveland Way on the north Yorkshire Coast. I had landed in Staithes and was utterly exhausted. But I dragged myself to the port for a quick look around before bed. I stumbled across this cliff face full of kittiwakes. Just call me Davida Attenborough. The twitcher in me was ecstatic ❤️

There comes a time when we start thinking about doing life differently. We want something other than what we’ve got. But we may not know what that is and certainly not how to go about getting it.

That’s where my mentoring comes in. Because working this out on your own can be especially hard.

We don’t need fixing. We need space and some clarity to think properly about what comes next.

As one client put it, mentoring gave her “the courage and confidence to start shaping my life as I needed and wanted it to be.”

Another described it as “a safe, non-judgmental and kind space” to make sense of change.

That’s the work. Not quick wins or surface-level motivation. But thoughtful, grown-up support for the reality of wanting more from life.

Because in midlife we get a wakeup call that the clock is ticking. And if we want to do stuff with our lives, we need to get on with it.

If you’re ready to feel clearer about your next chapter, you can find out more about mentoring via the link in the bio.
