If you are training to become a counsellor, gaining the right clinical experience is essential. At The Awareness Centre Training School, we offer counselling placements exclusively for our students within:
✅ NHS Talking Therapies Services in Lambeth, Sutton and Wandsworth
✅ Low Cost Counselling Services at our Clapham and Tooting centres
These placements provide the opportunity to work with real clients, develop your therapeutic skills and build the clinical hours required for qualification and accreditation.
What you can expect from a placement:
🟠 Work with a caseload of 3-4 clients per week
🟠 Experience in both short-term NHS-focused therapy and open-ended work in Low Cost Counselling
🟠 Options for face-to-face and online sessions, depending on the service

Meet Gareth Sammer | Tutor, Diploma in Integrative Counselling
Gareth Sammer is a Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with more than a decade of experience in private practice.
A registered member of the UKCP and accredited member of the NCPS, Gareth brings both depth of knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching to his role at The Awareness Centre Training School.
With a background of more than twenty years of volunteering with St John Ambulance, Gareth has always been dedicated to helping others and sharing essential skills. His love of teaching grew from this experience, leading him to deliver TA Counselling and Psychotherapy training and workshops on building successful private practices.
In his sessions, Gareth combines theory, client vignettes and practical demonstrations to bring learning to life. His calm, empathic and reflective style helps students deepen their understanding of both theory and human experience, building confidence and insight as future counsellors.

For the past 20 years, The Awareness Centre has been proud to offer one of the largest and most established counselling placement programmes in the UK.
We have had the privilege of supporting thousands of trainee counsellors as they gained clinical experience and took their first steps into the profession.
As The Awareness Centre Training School continues to grow, we are evolving our placement programme to align more closely with our in-house training pathway.

Dianne Zaccheo is a Visiting Tutor for our Diploma in Integrative Counselling and facilitator of the Working with Neurodiversity workshop.
With more than 20 years of experience, Dianne is a leading expert in neurodiversity and family therapy, known for developing her patented model of Behavioural Coaching.
