With one of our strongest set of GCSE results ever, one in five grades were a Grade 9, 55% of all grades were ‘7’ or higher, 86% of all grades were a ‘5’ or higher and the school’s provisional Attainment 8 score has risen to 66.7 which, Covid aside, is the highest it has been in a decade. 93% of students achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and mathematics, while 83% achieved Grade 5 or above and 46% achieved Grade 7 or above in both subjects.

These are exceptional results and hopefully do justice to the extraordinary amount of hard work put in by our students and staff throughout the year. In a school of JFS’s size, achieving results of this standard across such a large cohort is fantastic and we could not be more proud of everyone involved. Behind every statistic are hundreds of individual students whose determination, ambition and resilience have brought them to this point and they have our heartfelt congratulations! As always, our gratitude also goes to all our families for all the support that they have given to both the school and their children over the years, and I hope that they are as proud as we are of everything that they have achieved! Well done to everyone!

JFS students have achieved another fantastic set of A-Level and vocational results this year.

At A-Level, 52% of grades were awarded at A* or A, 81% at A*–B and 94% at A*–C. Vocational results were equally strong, with 66% of all grades awarded at Distinction or Distinction*.

Equally, a provisional progress score of +0.44 for our Post-16 results means that students are achieving nearly half a grade higher than their peers in other schools nationally, which on top of their progress of +1.16 in their GCSEs, is hugely impressive.

60 JFS students chose to spend their Tisha B'Av morning with Tribe and Kinloss Youth.

The morning began by exploring some of the tragedies throughout Jewish history, with students working together to place key events in chronological order before taking part in small-group discussions about their significance and the meaning of Tisha B'Av today.

Students then developed kindness initiatives to bring back to school, creating posters to promote their ideas and inspire positive action within the JFS community.

We were also privileged to hear from Hedi Argent MBE, who shared her powerful Holocaust testimony, focusing on the extraordinary kindness shown to her by those who helped her survive. Her inspiring and deeply moving story was a fitting reminder of the impact that acts of kindness can have, especially on Tisha B'Av.

Continuing with Mr Smart’s Student/Teacher commissioned Art Project, Shira (Year 7) painted a beautiful picture with flowers for Ms Mason who commented, “The theme reflects my love of nature and travel, and the colours just brighten my day! It was lovely to be the recipient of something so thoughtful.”

Ms Mason was also delighted to receive a 3D art piece from Ella in Year 7 as part of Mr Smart’s Student/Teacher commissioned Art Project. Ella made a sculpture of some of Ms Mason’s favourite books to reflect her love of reading. “I love that this piece reminds me of something I love to do, and I hope it encourages my students to rea, too! Ella did such a great job - thank you!”
