Library survey

Fellows are reminded to visit and complete the Society’s survey of Library services. We wish to receive as wide a range of views as possible so all Fellows (including both users and non-users of Library services) are encouraged to participate.

Some Fellows reported difficulty in completing one of the questions in the first day or two of the survey, but the issue has since been resolved. The survey closes on September 11.

To take a more proactive role in the Energy Transition, we are changing from the Petroleum Group to the Energy Group of the Geological Society of London. We are broadening our scientific focus to include traditional and transitional energy, and the role of geoscience in renewable energy.

We want to remain relevant to an evolving industry and help mitigate climate change through a decrease in carbon emissions and an increase in the contribution of renewable energy. Read about what this mean for our group in Geoscientist (https://www.geolsoc.org.uk/Geoscientist/September-2020/Feature-2).

To support our transition to the Energy Group, we are looking for new committee members with knowledge and experience of non-hydrocarbon related energy geoscience. Nominations close 25/09/2020. For more information, visit our website (www.geolsoc.org.uk/energygroup).
