Crazy! 20 years ago today, I broke the British Championships triple jump record with a leap of 17.64m — a distance that still stands as the championship record.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I remember everything about that jump:⁣⁣
• The speed down the runway that made me almost want to bail mid-hop.⁣⁣
• My coach’s voice (Ted King) in my head: “Strike and pull like crazy at the end of the hop, and ride the step as long as possible.”⁣⁣
• Landing and seeing the scoreboard light up with a number I had only dreamed would be next to my name.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Funny thing is, even with that being the best jump of my life, when we analysed it, there were so many areas still to improve. That’s the nature of performance and mastery:⁣⁣ There’s always room to get better, and, it’s always worth pausing to celebrate how far you’ve come.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✨ Keep striving. Stay patient. And always take a moment to honour the milestones along the way.⁣⁣

“If it were easy, everyone could do it.”

This phrase became my guiding light as an athlete and continues to shape my perspective today. Whether you’re mastering a skill, leading a team, or building a business, true growth happens when you embrace the challenge.

💡 5 timeless lessons to turn friction into progress:

1️⃣ Dedication: The Quiet Edge
2️⃣ Discipline Over Motivation
3️⃣ Embrace Failure as a Catalyst for Growth
4️⃣ Patience: The Overlooked Superpower
5️⃣ The Challenge Shapes You

I had the pleasure of delivering high performance training for , the urban logistics company, at their off-site in Barcelona! The setting was hard to beat — amazing scenery, fantastic food, 24/7 snacks and drinks (as you see me doing), a spa to unwind, and even cycling through the Catalonia countryside.⁣

I also managed to carve out some time to explore Barcelona, which was an added bonus!⁣

Big thanks to Stuart for inviting me to work with such an inspiring team on this journey of growth.⁣

That men's 100m final was intense!

Eight men under 10 seconds for the first time.

You have to hand it to Noah, he delivered when it mattered!

For the first time, I felt I could possibly see the performance anxiety in his face, the nervous energy bubbling over as he roared into the stadium and was prowling with intensity on the start line.

Noah stated his goals out loud to the whole world! He has consciously and consistently courted the attention for years and built up the pressure. Very few athletes have EVER done that…and performed... Bolt entertained. He was a showman. He handled the pressure. He didn’t court it.

Some call him arrogant. Some say he talks too much. Some want to see him trip up. Yet he performs!

How does Noah handle that intensity of pressure?!
He doesn’t fear failure. He leans into and embraces the pressure. If he underperforms, he takes and shakes it off. He knows that’s part of the journey and then relentlessly goes again with unwavering self-belief.

Pressure is a privilege.

The athletics is finally here at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

You may hear during the Games, “this is a fast track”. What does that actually mean? How can a track be fast?
As in many aspects of life, technology is constantly improving & evolving. Therefore, the surface used will have been scientifically researched to optimise performance.

Historically, these tracks are quite hard and designed to enable a positive energy transfer. This years purple Olympic track features a new geometric air cells design in it’s bottom layer, which is actually slightly softer than previously. As a triple jumper, I actually preferred the track to be a little softer, bouncier, and therefore kinder on the joints when landing the phases. Speed dominant triple jumpers often prefer a hard surface.
