Most people working in health and wellbeing work with stressed people every single day… but they just haven’t always been taught how to fully recognise, understand or respond to it.

Over the last decade of coaching, lecturing and delivering corporate wellbeing education, one thing became very clear to me:

We cannot keep approaching stress and burnout with generic advice - we need a joined up body-mind approach.

That’s why I created Stress Ed.

To raise the standard of stress education for health and wellness professionals through evidence-based, accredited training grounded in science, psychology and real-world practice.

Hearing feedback from professionals like these above matter because they cemented my belief in myself that I can make a difference and I have something to offer.

So, this is why I want to continue to help professionals as they support stressed and but the people.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me to teach, mentor and educate in this space. What I am doing really is built on the shoulders of giants and the trust of many people who I have worked with for almost a decade.

Most people working in health and wellness will come across clients who are doing everything “right” but not progressing as expected.

Many people working with people in general will find it hard to work with those who are stressed, but know little about the concept of stress themselves.

Often, stress is a big part of the the picture when struggle and underperformance exist.

The Stress Literacy™ Quiz is a short, evidence-informed tool designed to help you reflect on how well you understand stress, how it shows up, and how it may be influencing your clients’ outcomes.

It takes around 4–6 minutes to complete and provides practical, personalised insights you can apply straight away.

If you work with people, you work with stress.

You can explore the quiz and our CPD training at www.stress-ed.co.uk

Stress and pain often co exist. Managing one can have a significant beneficial impact on the other. So, we’re delighted to announce that Caroline Marlow from
has joined the Stress Ed. Directory.

🎙️ Mini Interview with Caroline Marlow
Chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist | Pain Education Specialist

1. Caroline, tell us about the work you do.
🧠 I support people living with chronic pain or recovering from injury. Everyone’s experience is different, so I use a mix of pain education and mind-body strategies to help people understand their pain and take back control of their recovery.

2. What makes your approach different?
📚 I blend cutting-edge pain science with practical psychological tools. Research shows that when people understand their pain, they recover better — and hurt less. It’s not just about managing symptoms, it’s about feeling like you again.

3. You also run workshops — what can people expect from those?
💥 A few myth-busting moments! A lot of what we think we know about pain is outdated. My sessions are designed to surprise, inform, and give people tools they can actually use to reduce pain and feel more in control.

4. What do you love most about your work?
💛 Helping people go from feeling stuck and frustrated to feeling seen, understood, and hopeful. It’s a privilege to be part of someone’s recovery journey.

5. Professional memberships?
✔️ Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
✔️ British Psychological Society (BPS)

So many of us are juggling so much these days so if you’re stressed, grab your favourite album or playlist and hit play.

This research shows music can help soothe your nervous system by reviewing 14 independent experiments (totalling 706 people!).

More importantly it found that HOW you listen matters. To get the best effect try:

🎧 Self-selected music

⏯️ No lyrics or slower tempos

Interestingly it might also be less about the perfect song and more about the power of choice — so put on your fave playlist, press play, and reclaim a more relaxed body and mind.

Meet Liz – Life Coach & Supervisor! ✨

Liz has a comprehensive understanding of how stress shows up in the body and mind and has helped many .ed.ig clients to navigate ‘life’ beyond/alongside burnout - because ‘life’ doesn’t stop just because stress strikes.

If you’re looking for a life coach who will ask you questions your friends or family won’t (but maybe should, because if they did you wouldn’t be so stuck!) in a wholesale and compassionate way, then get in touch with Liz.

1. What do you offer as a coach?
I offer life coaching, therapeutic coaching, and coaching supervision. I help people tackle big life changes which are often stressful and grow into their best selves! 💪💫

2. Tell us about your journey—what got you into coaching?
I spent years in a corporate job that made me want to stick pencils in my eyes 😅. Then, I decided to switch things up—ran ultra-marathons 🏃‍♀️, moved to a country where I didn’t speak the language, with a 4-month-old baby in tow 👶🌍. I learned firsthand that life can be tough, but you can change it!

3. What’s your philosophy as a coach?
I believe if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it! 💭✨ This mindset changed my life, and I help my clients believe the same about their own potential.

4. What’s the bottom line for your clients?
You can change your life for the better! 🌟 It might feel like winning the lottery, but with the right guidance, anything is possible. Let’s get you moving in the right direction!

5. What professional groups are you a part of?
I’m proud to be a member of the EMCC and UKATA. 👥

Do you have a lot of acute stressors experiencing in your life at the moment?

Remember, our body is designed to active a very helpful and efficient stress response when we are exposed to an acutely stressful situation.

However, the response itself requires energy (from nutritious food and deep sleep). If you don’t fuel the stress response it can remain ‘on’ leading to CHRONIC STRESS - this is a problem for many different systems in the body leading to debilitating symptoms and ultimately disease.
