Associate Programme Audition – now open for dancers aged 8–15 🌟

We are pleased to announce an open audition for our Associate Programme on 4 July, 14:30-16:30!

Our Saturday Associate programme is designed for young, dedicated dancers aged 8–15, offering a nurturing and professional environment, with enhanced training alongside weekly classes to develop technique, artistry, and confidence.

Aimed at preparing students for future full time vocational training, the programme brings together like-minded, passionate dancers who are ready to be challenged and inspired on their journey to the next level.

SUMMER MASTERCLASSES ANNOUNCEMENT! We are pleased to share that registration for our Summer Masterclasses is now open via the link in our bio!

Dates: 25-28 August 2026
Age groups: Entering Years 5-8 (Junior), Entering Years 9-12 (Senior)
Time: 10:00-16:00

Curated by LVBS’s Artistic Director .bennett , our Summer Masterclasses offer students the opportunity to develop their technical skills, broaden their artistic understanding and learn from experienced industry professionals in a supportive vocational environment.

Each day will follow a different theme:

25 August: Back to Ballet
26 August: Solos and Pas de Deux
27 August: Contemporary and Jazz
28 August: Ballet and Contemporary

Audition applications are still open for September 2026 full time entry to LVBS! We are currently accepting applications for all year groups, from Year 6 to Year 11. We’re delighted to share that renowned choreographer Bim Malcomson () has been working with our Year 6 and 7 students to create a new piece for our summer performances!

Bim Malcomson is a choreographer and educator who has explored inclusive ballet practice, bringing together disabled, able-bodied, professional and non-professional dancers for over twenty years. She
has worked with organisations including the Royal Ballet Company, Images Ballet Company, the Royal Ballet School and Central School of
Ballet. Amongst others, her dance pieces have been seen at the Royal Opera House, Lilian Baylis Studio Theatre, London bus stops, the Royal Ballet School, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Bulgarian orphanages, and on
the BBC.

Don’t miss Bim’s work ‘In the Box - Out of the Box’, part of our summer performances at The Lilian Baylis Studio Theatre on 29 June!

Over the past few months, our students have enjoyed several school trips!

Years 6-9 visited Barnes Wetland Centre where they took part in a workshop on bird classification and saw some otters!

Years 8, 9, and Year 10 GCSE Art students visited the National Gallery for the schools’ ‘Move’ workshop, exploring the representation of movement in visual art.

Years 8-10 took part in a Fashion for Performance Workshop at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Years 6-10 visited Bletchley Park, taking part in workshops on Cyber Security and Codes and Ciphers, and seeing an original Enigma machine in action!

With rehearsals in full swing for our summer performances on 29 June, we’re delighted to announce the first of our three guest choreographers, ! Miguel has been working with our Year 8 and 9 students on ‘Before the Silence’, a highly physical, technical and emotional piece in the contemporary dance language. We’ve had a brilliant time working with Miguel and we can’t wait to share the piece with you - stay tuned for more details and behind the scenes snippets, tickets will be on sale very soon!

Miguel is a former dancer at Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, Rambert, Hofesh Schechter Company, Akram Khan Company and Lost Dog. During his career, he has had the privilege of performing in renowned works by esteemed international choreographers.

As a choreographer and movement director, he has created pieces for Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, Rambert, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Simply Red, Phoenix Youth Academy, Artistry Youth Dance, Rambert School, London Studio Centre, Codarts, Opus Ballet Academy, National Youth Ballet, Acosta Danza and Carlos Acosta. His talent has garnered recognition, including the Cuban best Male Solo Award in 2022 and nominations for Outstanding Male Performance, Best Dancer, and Best Modern
Choreography and the Critics’ National Dance Awards in the UK.

Miguel also created ‘City of a Thousand Trades’ for Birmingham Royal Ballet, and served as an Assistant Choreographer for Marion Motin for the Jean Paul Gaultier Freakshow.
