Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly familiar part of education. Whether children are using ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini or another AI-powered assistant, many pupils now have access to tools that can explain concepts, answer questions and support revision within seconds. For many families, this raises important questions.

Looking back at a brilliant evening at the National Tutoring Awards 2026 🏆

Our Director, Johnny Manning, was proud to be part of the judging panel for Tuition Franchise or Centre of the Year, recognising organisations demonstrating consistently high standards, measurable impact for students, strong support for their teams and franchisees, innovation, and a commitment to widening access to quality tuition.

A belated but very well-deserved congratulations to Tutor Doctor, who took home the award, and The Reading Doctor, who were Highly Commended.

It was a privilege to play a small part in recognising some of the excellent work happening across the tuition sector. 👏

The teenage brain is still developing, particularly the areas responsible for attention, planning and self-control. While this might explain why concentration can sometimes feel elusive, it also means that these skills can be improved with the right strategies and routines. The good news is that you don’t need to buy expensive equipment or ban technology altogether. Small, consistent changes often produce the biggest results.

Disadvantaged pupils are now almost 19 months behind their peers by age 16.

That figure describes a national average, not the needs of every individual pupil. Some learners have gaps in core knowledge. Others need help rebuilding confidence, improving consistency or re-engaging with learning.

This is where well-planned one-to-one tuition can make a real difference.

When the summer holidays arrive, many families breathe a sigh of relief. Alarm clocks are switched off, school bags are tucked away and the pressure of homework disappears for a few precious weeks.

After months of busy school days, children deserve time to relax, recharge and simply enjoy being children.

However, many parents also begin to wonder whether six weeks away from the classroom might undo some of the progress their child has worked so hard to achieve. Questions often arise about how much learning is enough, whether children should continue practising school subjects and how to strike the right balance between education and enjoyment.
