What happens when learning impacts real systems?

1 student idea → 4 tonnes of plastic bottles recycled 🌱

At UWC Dilijan, students worked with their local municipality to redesign recycling infrastructure across the town.

Five recycling points were installed. Around four tonnes of plastic bottles were collected.
And when the system proved effective, it was handed over to the municipality to continue.
This is not a one-off project.

This is real-life change that will positively impact the Dilijan community into the future.

Join us in London on 21 September for an evening of dialogue and a shared commitment to peace education as the UWC community comes together to mark UWC Day.

Hosted by UWC Red Cross Nordic, UWC USA and UWC Atlantic, in partnership with UWC International and the Nobel Peace Center, the evening will feature a keynote from Kjersti Fløgstad, CEO of the Nobel Peace Center.

Yesterday night, a welcoming wave of light greeted our new students as they arrived on campus. Current students lined the grounds with lanterns, forming a glowing path for the newest members of the UWC ISAK family to walk through.

It’s a tradition that captures who ISAK is, a community that shows up for each other from day one.

What does it mean to experience the planet – not just study it? 🌱

In Vietnam, the Embodying Earth UWC short course brings young people into direct relationship with the natural world.

Through a physical timeline of Earth’s history in the rainforest, participants walk millions of years in a single journey ending in the present moment.

And then ask a simple question:
What does it mean to be human at this point in Earth’s story?

This is climate education grounded in experience, reflection and responsibility.
