Zoom is the new meeting room.

While you understandably might not be wearing the same attire while working from home as you would in the office, should employees have the right to dress how they want when attending video meetings?

Since lockdown, many employees have become trusted to use their judgement and to find new ways to adapt while still being efficient and productive.

While some have resorted to casual-wear, others believe they should not let their professional attire standards slip.

But as long as individuals are getting their job done, does it matter what they’re wearing while they do it?

What have you been wearing to your online meetings?

What is suitable Zoom attire? Business opinion is divided over what's acceptable Zoom, Teams or Google Meet attire.

Every now and again it’s important to take a step back from the daily hustle and bustle and take some time out to recharge.

Think of those closest to you.

How appreciative are you of those people?

Our relationship with others is one of the most valuable things we possess whether that’s with friends, a romantic partner, work colleagues or family.

In order to sustain relationships, we must make an effort to cultivate them.

One way to do this is through showing appreciation and this can be shown in many ways:

•Be grateful for what others do for you whether their actions are small or large and compliment their efforts.

•Always be kind, compassionate and understanding.

•Openly communicate your thoughts and feelings with them.

•Show small gestures of appreciation.

•Always be open to listening to what others have to say.

•Never take your relationships with others for granted.

•Make time for others whether seeing them face-to-face if Covid rules allow or picking up the phone for a chat.

How do you show appreciation to those closest to you?

Today marks the beginning of anti-bullying week.

Unfortunately, bullying is not a term which is reserved to describe school playground behaviour, it seeps its way into modern day organisations.

Indeed there were allegations of bullying and boorish behaviour amidst the recent resignation of two advisers to government.

According to a report by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, 15% of UK employees have experienced workplace bullying at some point in their career.

Bullying behaviour is defined as behaviour which is persistent, unwanted and unwarranted.

A range of behaviours can constitute bullying these include micro aggressions such as : being undermined or publicly humiliated, socially excluded and gossiped about.

This behaviour has a negative affect on individuals, teams and the organisation itself.

Staff leaving organisations because of a toxic work environment, leads to reputational damage and problems with recruitment, retention, staff morale and performance.

Have you ever witnessed or been the target of workplace bullying?

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. — Confucius.

Have your goals fallen by the wayside this year?

If you fall down, there is always a way to get back up.

Practice makes perfect and this can be applied to any aspect of your life: work, relationships, health, the list goes on.

Repetition of the correct processes and being accepting of making mistakes can help bring success.

But sometimes we can struggle in knowing what the correct process is.

If this is the case, it is always better to work with somebody that knows what it is.

This can save you time and allow you to grow quicker.

You can’t control tomorrow.

You have lost control of yesterday.

So neither are worth worrying about.

Fortunately, today is still in play!

How do you face difficult decisions?

When faced with a complex decision, in most cases there are many information sources which can conflict one another.

It is important to take the time to investigate and understand the rationales behind each piece of information in order to make an informed, unbiased decision.

Decision making is a key leadership quality which must balance the dimensions of ethics, morals and role responsibilities.

Learning to recognize and balance these dynamic priorities is key to leading with integrity and to be able to move forward confidently in a decision which reflects the best possible balance of all principles.

What was the hardest decision you had to make and how did you deal with this?

Should you really fake it until you make it?

Confidence is one of most attractive personal brand attributes and key leadership skills a person can possess.

Studies have shown that those who are more confident are taken more seriously which ultimately helps advance them in their jobs and career.

There’s a saying that ‘not everyone is born confident,’ but the truth is, nobody is!

Confidence is a skill which people build upon throughout life. Confidence is harnessed through experiences, self-awareness, and taking risks to step out of your comfort zone.

The biggest killer of confidence is negative self-talk.

Regulating and balancing feelings of confidence requires considerable self-knowledge.

Through identifying development areas that are affecting your confidence and making a conscious effort to reduce or eliminate them can help everyone manage their behaviour and thinking patterns, in turn boosting both their self-esteem, confidence and career.

Do you believe career progression and confidence has a positive correlation?
