Major UK Modern Slavery Act Overhaul: 2015 vs. 2026

The UK Home Office and Parliament are transforming how modern slavery is tackled in the UK. Here is what shifted between the original 2015 legislation and the 2026 reforms:🔹 2015 Act (The Baseline):Large businesses (£36M+ turnover) were required to publish an annual transparency statement, but discretionary reporting allowed vague statements with no statutory minimum contents.

No direct fines or financial penalties existed for failing to comply.

Skilled worker visa holders who suffered workplace exploitation were legally tied to their sponsor, risking removal if they walked away.

🔹2026 Reforms (The Enforcement Era):Big Fines: New statutory penalties up to the greater of £1,000,000 or 1% of global turnover for non-compliant businesses.

Prescriptive Disclosures: Mandatory reporting areas covering risk assessments, due diligence, policies, and remediation.

Visa Safeguards: Migrant care workers and skilled staff identified as victims can now leave abusive sponsors and work for any employer for the rest of their visa.

While my wife is still preparing for her DHA licensing process, something unexpected happened.

Update 04: Letting go 🏠📦

One of the most underrated parts of moving countries...

Selling the life you’ve built.

The furniture, appliances, and all the little things we’ve collected over the years are now being listed for sale.

Some of these things came with memories.
Some came with struggles.
Some were bought with my very first salary in the UK.

It’s funny how quickly a place starts feeling empty when you begin packing up your life.

This move is starting to feel real now

One item at a time.
One box at a time.
One step closer to Dubai. 🇦🇪

Update 03: Big moves behind the scenes 📩

Finally I’ve sent my resignation email.
The UK chapter is officially coming to an end.

It’s a mix of emotions
a bit of relief, and a bit heavy at the same time.

And this journey isn’t just mine
my wife is a doctor, so we’ve started her DHA license process for Dubai.

Step by step, we’re rebuilding our life in a new place.

This isn’t just a move
it’s a new beginning for both of us. 🤞✨

Still a long way to go,
but I truly believe we’re heading in the right direction.

I’ll be sharing all the real process, struggles, and updates
in the next videos.

Update 02: Destination revealed 🇦🇪

Closed my UK chapter.
Next stop Dubai.

This wasn’t a sudden decision.
I took my time, thought it through, and made this move with intent.

From Resigning my job,
clearing out my place,
packing up my life and stepping into something new.

There’s a lot that going behind the scenes,
I’ll be sharing all of it in the next videos.

To be honest, there is a little fear 😅
but the excitement is even bigger.

Comfort is good,
but growth needs risk.

Let’s see where this journey takes me. 🚀
