Hello and wishing you a great week ahead.
This week’s edition of Consulting Intelligence explores an important consulting question;
How do you move from expertise to a structured consulting product clients can actually understand and buy?
Many professionals have experience, but struggle to package that expertise into a clear consulting offer with defined outcomes, process, deliverables and commercial value.
In Edition 005, we explore how consultants identify the right problem, structure solutions and develop consulting products that create clarity, confidence and measurable value.

5 Principles for a Successful Consulting Business
Principle 1: Own a Problem
Quote by Shola Ajani:
What problem are you synonymous with?
Practical Application:
Identify a clear problem that organisations, leaders or clients already have and are willing to pay to solve. Position yourself so strongly around that problem that when people think about it, they think about you. A consultancy grows faster when it is known for solving something specific rather than trying to do everything.
Principle 2: Have a Clear Process
Quote by Shola Ajani:
People must be able to see the transformation through their own eyes.
Practical Application:
Develop a clear step-by-step framework that shows how you move clients from problem to solution. Your process should make the journey visible, structured and believable. When clients can see the path, they gain confidence in your ability to deliver results.
Principle 3: Tie Product to the Problem
Quote by Shola Ajani:
Do not sell activity; sell a solution attached to a real problem.
Practical Application:
Create consulting products and services that are directly linked to the problem you solve. Every offer should have a clear purpose, outcome and relevance. Avoid vague services. Instead, package your expertise into solutions the market can easily understand and buy.
Principle 4: Be Visible in the Right Market
Quote by Shola Ajani:
If the market cannot see you, it cannot buy from you.
Practical Application:
Make your expertise visible consistently through speaking, writing, training, content, referrals, partnerships and online presence. Visibility is not noise; it is strategic exposure to the right audience. Your ideal clients should repeatedly come across your name, message and expertise.
Principle 5: Master Provisioning
Quote by Shola Ajani:
Your credibility is proven not only by what you promise, but by what you can consistently provide.
Practical Application:
Build the capacity, tools, systems, people and resources required to deliver your consulting solution effectively. Provisioning means being ready to execute. It includes templates, frameworks, delivery capability, technology, support systems and even the right partners. A good consultant does not just win work; they are equipped to deliver it well.
