‘Mini Me’ blocks 👧🏽 🧒🏼
Today we have introduced ‘mini me’ photo blocks to promote inclusion and a sense of belonging by helping every child feel seen, acknowledged and represented within the setting.
We are also going to be using the blocks for self-registration, giving each of the children ownership of their daily routine and helping them feel welcomed and included from the moment they arrive. ✔️

In honour of World Bee Day this Wednesday 🐝

The girls have been building with the translucent blocks today. They both took it in turns to place a block on top of another, working together to keep it from toppling over 🧱 .
They both used lots of language narrating to each other about what was happening and whose turn it was. They also found it very funny when the tower fell, they repeated the game several times.
It’s so lovely to see the relationships, the children have formed with one another flourish 🌺.

Today we introduced our ‘sharing box’ 📦.
The box is filled with a few items of interest, this may be following our current theme, a few interactive toys or extended on from things we have done that day 🍃.
The session lasts for around 5 minutes, during which the children are able to develop their turn taking skills.
All of the children sat attentively, showing good levels of concentration and patience as they waited for their turn 🥎.
Singing a familiar song to introduce and revisit the activity helped to maintain engagement and provide clear cues for transitions 🎵.
As each item was taken from the box, key words were modelled to support language development and reinforce understanding. The object was then passed around the group, allowing each child a brief opportunity to explore it before passing it on. This short, consistent turn-taking approach helped to sustain interest and minimise waiting times ⏱️.
The children responded positively to this new routine, showing increasing awareness of sharing and cooperation.

We visited The Look Out Discovery Centre last week, and it was an amazing experience for the children 🔎 .
They had the chance to explore and learn through hands on play, experimenting with water, construction, lights, ice, and so much more 🧊.
It was a brilliant way for them to engage with science in a fun and interactive environment, discovering new concepts through first-hand experiences 🌑.

Project flower patch 🌺
Today we visited one of our favourites- Flowerland!
We explored the garden centre, inside and out, checking out all of the flowers, plants, fruit & vegetables that were growing. 🍅
The little ones each chose a plant and some seeds to take home with us for our new flower bed.
We are so excited to plant them all over the coming days and just can’t wait for the weather to get warmer and sunnier, so we can see them flourish 🌷.
Of course the children’s favourite part was the aquarium! We looked in all of the tanks and the children made comments on the different types of fish they could see. We then all got a chance to take turns at feeding the fish outside too 🐟.

World Book Day 2026 🐯 📚
On Thursday, the children celebrated World Book Day by coming in dressed as characters from their favourite books. It was wonderful to see their costumes and hear them share their favourite stories with us. 👸🏼
Our focus story this week was “The Tiger Who Came to Tea.” 🫖
During group time we read the story together and talked about what happened. The children then explored the story further using key words and props in our sensory tray to help recall different parts of the story. 🥘
The children especially enjoyed using a tea set, just like the one in the story, to practise tipping and pouring. As they played, they shared parts of the story they remembered and used their imagination to retell events from the book. It was lovely to see them engaging with the story and learning through play. 📖
