Information informs. Experience transforms.
Too often, we tell ourselves we don’t have time…
So we step in, we speed things up, we issue an instruction or do it for them.
But in so doing we are taking away the very experiences that help young people grow?
What if we paused instead….
And asked: how can I create the space for them to figure it out for themselves?
Because it’s in the doing, the trying, the getting it wrong and doing it again that confidence is built and real learning happens.

🌟 How Fair Isle Primary School in Scotland empowers students to be more proactive!
At Fair Isle Primary School in Scotland, using Franklin Covey's shared leadership framework () is helping students take ownership of their own learning and bring their school values to life creating a truly inclusive culture— every day.
In a recent HMI inspection report, the school was praised for its welcoming, inclusive ethos and for using a clear leadership framework to empower pupils to take ownership of their own learning. Staff actively connect the school’s values to the 7 Habits — helping children understand what responsibility, initiative, and collaboration look like in action.
“Staff support children well to understand the school values that are underpinned by effective pupil leadership skills… Children are encouraged to be responsible by being proactive in their learning… Staff use a clear leadership framework to help children understand how they can live out these values by taking increasing responsibility for their own learning. They also support children to lead and support others as they move through the school.” — HMI Report, Fair Isle Primary School
Through this approach, Fair Isle’s pupils don’t just talk about values — they live them, taking increasing responsibility for their learning and supporting others as they grow.
👉 A powerful example of how leadership and values-based education can transform culture from the inside out.

🌟 Leader in ME and The 5 Paradigms That Change Everything 🌟
At the heart of Leader in Me are 5 key paradigms — powerful mindset shifts that transform the way schools think about leadership, learning, and potential:
1️⃣ Everyone can be a leader – leadership isn’t a title, it’s a mindset.
2️⃣ Everyone has genius – every child has unique strengths waiting to be discovered.
3️⃣ Change starts with me – real transformation begins when individuals take ownership.
4️⃣ Educators empower students to lead their own learning – agency is the key to lifelong success.
5️⃣ Educators and families partner to develop the whole person – when we work together, every child can thrive.
Why are these so important? Because they help create schools where:
✨ Pupils believe in themselves.
✨ Staff feel empowered.
✨ Families are partners in growth.
✨ Learning goes beyond academics to develop the whole child.
👉 That’s the foundation of lasting cultural change in education. Follow us over the next few weeks as we share stories of how these paradigms are being applied in schools day to day!
