We're nearly a month into the new term — a good moment to pause and check in on how your child's speech is settling.

[ ] My child seems understood by their teacher and classmates
[ ] They're happy to talk and join in at school
[ ] Their speech is clearer than it was over the summer, not the same
[ ] No one at school has raised a concern
[ ] I've stopped needing to "translate" for other adults

Not ticking all five? That's not a reason to panic — but the autumn term really is the best window to act, long before half term and long before it drifts into next year.

When a paediatrician recommends a tool to the families in their care, that means a great deal to us.

"An excellent screening tool that I now recommend to families. It bridges the gap while waiting for NHS referrals and gives parents actionable insights immediately."

— Dr. James L., Paediatrician

Bridging the gap between a worry and a way forward — that's exactly what it's built to do.

Here's a belief that catches a lot of families out: "If my child needs speech support, the school will sort out a referral."

Sometimes they will. But schools are stretched, referral thresholds are high, and speech can quietly slip down a long list of priorities — especially if a child is otherwise coping fine.

Waiting for the system to act can cost months. Knowing your child's phonological profile yourself puts you in the driving seat — whether that leads to a home plan, a private referral, or simply reassurance that all is well.

Something a lot of parents don't realise: speech sounds don't all arrive at once. They develop in a fairly predictable order.

Roughly speaking:

By age 3: p, b, m, d, n, h, w
By age 4: k, g, t, ng, f, y
By age 5: l, sh, ch, j, s, z
By age 6–7: r, v, th

So if your five-year-old still says "wabbit" for "rabbit," that's often within normal range. But "tat" for "cat" at five usually isn't. Knowing which patterns are age-appropriate and which aren't is everything — and it's exactly what the screener is built to tell you.

Great parents approach child development proactively

They don't always wait for a concern to be raised and prefer to get ahead of the game.

Our speech screener allows you to do just that. You know your child best and if you want a full profile of your child's speech sounds and their development you can have a clear answer in as little as 20 minutes.

Our screener looks at 12 phonological processes, compares against developmental norms and, if there's an issue, offers a full report with all the information you need to support your little one.

And, to get you started, we also offer FREE resources so you can start working on speech sounds immediately

No wait times, no appointment, no high private therapy costs or ongoing charges.

A clear picture of where your child is at right now and the tools to help if they need it!

Our goal is to help as many children as possible find their voice. Please like and share with anyone you think that may help

"Have you noticed how he says some of his words?"

If a teacher or teaching assistant has gently raised your child's speech in these first few weeks, take it seriously — but don't panic.

Teachers spend all day, every day, listening to children. When one mentions speech, it's usually because they've noticed a genuine pattern, not a one-off. That's useful information, not a verdict.

And the next step isn't a year-long wait. It's 15 minutes and a clear picture of exactly what they're hearing.
