π¦π Shark Hunt Adventure in Central Park! π³π
Our Nursery children had a fantastic time bringing the story Shark in the Park to life! Inspired by Timothy Pope, who thought he spotted sharks everywhere, we made our own telescopes and headed off on a Shark Hunt in Central Park to see what we could discover. ππ¦
The fun continued with a nature-inspired craft activity as the children created beautiful flower bookmarks to take home and use while sharing their favourite books with family and friends. πΈπ
A wonderful day of storytelling, imagination, exploration, and creativity!

πΏβοΈ Classroom Day is a global movement that encourages children to spend more time learning outdoors. On two special days each year, teachers take learning beyond the classroom walls and into the fresh air.
As part of their Art topic, Year 2 have been exploring Kenyan patterns inspired by Kenyan artist Martin Bulinya. The children enjoyed trying out the traditional jumping dance of the Maasai people before holding their poses, just like the figures in Martin Bulinyaβs paintings!
The fun didnβt stop there β the children loved learning outdoors so much that they even asked for story time outside. ππ³ What a fantastic day of creativity, movement, and outdoor learning!

πβ¨ Year 2βs Geography learning on βWhere would you prefer to live β Kenya or England?β came to life through an exciting Global Learning Session!
Our pupils had the wonderful opportunity to connect with students from Nelson Primary School in the UK and St Joseph Combined Academy in Kenya. This special session celebrated global learning, cultural exchange, and the chance to learn from one another.
Year 2 were thrilled to meet Kenyan pupils and had prepared thoughtful questions about school life, education, and everyday experiences in Kenya. The children at St Joseph were eager to answer our questions and even had some of their own for us!
Some fascinating things we learned included:
β½ At break and lunchtime, pupils enjoy skipping, hula hoops, singing, hand games, and footballs made from recycled materials such as old clothes, carrier bags, socks, and string.
β° Their school day begins at 7:00am and finishes at 4:00pm, with opportunities to attend after-school clubs.
π½οΈ Their lunch menu includes dishes such as githeri, rice and beans, meat with kale and ugali, and boiled beans with maize β sometimes followed by delicious mango for dessert!
This inspiring experience helped our children develop a deeper understanding of life in Kenya while building connections with pupils across the world. ππ

KS2 had a brilliant day with author Serena Patel today! βοΈπ
She ran writing workshops, shared stories about her own journey and talked us through her creative process. Year 4 were especially excited since we study Anisha the Accidental Detective in our lessons β getting to meet the author in person was a real highlight.
Serena also signed pre-ordered books for the children. We canβt wait to see her books hit the screen when the TV series arrives!
