I'm so pleased to share that one of my students has passed the ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory exam!
Grade 8 Music Theory is a challenging exam, requiring a strong understanding of harmony, musical analysis, notation and structure. Achieving this level at such an early stage of secondary school is a remarkable accomplishment and reflects exceptional dedication and perseverance.
It's been a real pleasure to teach and support this student throughout the journey. Seeing their hard work pay off makes moments like this incredibly rewarding.
A huge congratulations on this fantastic result—I couldn't be prouder. Wishing you all the best for the next stage of your musical journey!

Really grateful to have had the opportunity to take part in Languages Day at a local primary school this week.

It was wonderful to share some Cantonese language and Hong Kong culture with the children through games, greetings, numbers, music, and interactive activities. Seeing the children so enthusiastic, curious, and confident joining in made the experience very special for me.

I was also very touched to see the lovely comments shared in the school newsletter about the event and the effort put into creating fun and engaging activities for the pupils.

As both a music educator and someone passionate about creative learning, I truly enjoy helping children explore language, music, rhythm, and culture in an enjoyable and inclusive way.

Thank you again to the school staff, children, and families for such a warm and encouraging experience.

It’s taken a lot of work to bring this vintage Besson New Standard Tenor Horn back to life. From four separate soldering jobs to new valve caps, springs, and split corks, it was a true labor of love. Even with thick valve oil and heavy grease to seal the vintage air leaks, she finally has a voice again. Here is the opening of the 2nd movement of the Hindemith Sonata—wrestling this "stretched" high-pitch conversion into tune is a workout. 🥵
