From tiny wood slices to one towering creation 🪵🐾

It was an absolute joy for Seed of Play to feature at Chamboree 2026, bringing some hands-on tool fun to more than 130 Scouts!

Using real tools and reclaimed wood, each Scout created their own individual animal face before being attached to the collaborative totem. Every little piece became part of something much bigger—celebrating creativity, teamwork, community and an incredible 110 years of Scouting 🌲🧡

Small pieces. Many hands. One seriously BIG build.

Our collaborative totem builds are perfect for festivals, schools, community celebrations and large-scale events looking for a meaningful activity with high participation and a lasting final creation.

5,000 builders. 💚🌱

Wow… what a milestone.

It feels so surreal to be writing this as we’ve officially reached 5,000 Seed of Play builders since starting this journey back in 2022.

Looking back over every event—small, medium and large—I feel nothing but gratitude. Seeing children’s faces light up as they create something with their own hands, then proudly carry it home, never gets old. It brings me so much joy.

But what fills my heart even more is knowing that Seed of Play isn’t just making a difference for children. It’s creating moments for families to slow down, connect, laugh, create together, and make memories they’ll hopefully carry with them for years to come.

When I first started this mission, I set myself a dream of sharing creative woodworking with 10,000 children. Today we’re halfway there.

It’s a reminder that what began as a small idea has become something much bigger than me—and I truly believe we’re only just getting started.

In a world that often feels increasingly fast-paced and digital, I feel more passionate than ever about creating spaces where people can reconnect with creativity, nature, craftsmanship and each other.

To every parent who has said yes, every school that has welcomed us, every festival and event organiser, every sponsor, local business, partner, volunteer and supporter—thank you. Your belief in this mission has made every single one of these 5,000 builds possible.

Together we’ve not only inspired thousands of children to build with confidence, but we’ve also given reclaimed wood a second life, proving that creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Here’s to planting even more seeds of play, confidence and possibility in the hearts and hands of the next generation.

🌱 We’re so excited to be partnering with Veolia at the ReNew Summer Festival! 💚

On 30th July, we’ll be bringing one of our most popular workshops—the Seed of Play Snakes—to families completely free of charge, thanks to Veolia’s generous sponsorship.

There’s something really special about taking a material that might otherwise be discarded and transforming it into something you’re proud to take home.

Through reclaimed timber, a few simple tools and a little imagination, we’re showing children (and their grown-ups!) that waste isn’t always waste—it can become an opportunity to create, learn and play.

We’re passionate about inspiring families to look at materials differently, discover new skills, and experience the joy and confidence that comes from making something with your own hands.

We can’t wait to meet everyone, see your incredible snake creations come to life, and spend a fantastic day celebrating creativity, sustainability and community together.

Some of our favourite moments from Bug Jam at Santa Pod Raceway. 🏁🪵

People came for the horsepower, the engines and the racing… but tucked away in the Little Buggerz area, hundreds of children (and just as many adults!) discovered the simple joy of making something with their own hands.

Over the weekend, our workshop became a place where strangers became teammates, parents slowed down, children discovered new skills, and reclaimed timber was transformed into creations that families were genuinely proud to take home.

That’s what Seed of Play is all about.

Not just building with wood…
Building confidence.
Building creativity.
Building connection.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, picked up a drill, trusted the process and created something uniquely their own. Seeing your smiles and hearing “Look what I made!” never gets old.

An absolute pleasure to bring our signature activity to the families of Dorking for a 3rd year in a row... the queues were getting very long by the end of the day! It's always so exciting to see this response and eagerness to get hands on and creative! Families just couldn't get enough 🎉🙏🏼🪵
