A phrase I hear all the time and am guilty of saying myself.

As humans when we are struggling, we often invalidate our own feelings and feel ashamed or embarrassed for voicing our thoughts and feelings but let me tell you now...

πŸ‘‰It's not stupid.
πŸ‘‰However you are feeling, it is valid.
πŸ‘‰Allow yourself to feel however you are feeling, in my experience resisting it only puts more pressure on yourself.
πŸ‘‰What would you say to a friend if they started out like this? Chances are you'd instantly reassure them and it wouldn't even cross your mind to agree that they were being stupid.

That includes telling YOURSELF to 'get over it'. Your thoughts and feelings are valid...whatever they are.

I originally called this page the bigger picture because there's MUCH more to mental health than just the diagnosis and symptoms.

Here are just some of the things I recognise myself which are also common for others.

Can you relate to any of these?

What do you ACTUALLY need to do today?

What will happen if you don't do those things?

If like me, you expect a lot more from yourself than anyone else, you probably put a huge amount of pressure on what you want to get done every day, what *needs* to be done...to be organised, prepared, successful.

However these are all things WE perceive as needed and actually can make us feel overwhelmed, exhausted and stressed unnecessarily. The crazy thing is if we didn't do them, no-one else would notice because they never had those expectations in the first place!

Also hate to break it to you but if you don't put the wash on, don't get that workout in, don't get that admin done, it's not going to be the end of the world. If you're feeling that surge of overwhelm today, take some time and ask 'what would happen if I didn't do that today?' Prioritise, pick the important thing/things and give yourself a break. You deserve it! 😘

Brocolli Carbonara and Caremilised onion and Mozarella garlic bread 😍

So pleased with how this turned out, my fave new recipe attempt in a while!

Around 700 cals with the garlic bread or 480 without. High protein, within macros and tastes insane! πŸ˜‹πŸ₯“

Still here but chilling!

Haven't posted for a couple of weeks and wanted to check in. I had such a manic week after my last post with lots of overtime at work that I face planted the holidays and have been catching up on sleep and resting ever since. I can confirm it IS paying off however as I am starting to get that drive and excitement for the new year with fresh ideas and motivation. A few more days of rest and then I'll be ready to hit the ground running! πŸ™Š

Determined to post the good and the bad! This morning did not get off to a good start after zero sleep and trying to cheer myself up with a coffee until realising there was no milk! Rather than grumble and write the morning off, I got a lift to the shop with my partner on the way to work, picked up a coffee AND some milk (for more coffees obvs) and took an unplanned stroll home. It was actually a delightful way to start the day despite looking bleary eyed and puffy πŸ˜‚

Did anyone else have any Monday fails?

What does your ideal Sunday look like? Mine is the one real rest day of the week mentally and physically.

Mine usually includes:

😴 A lie in! (If my body allows...)
🌳 Time spent outdoors, often a walk somewhere different.
πŸ₯™ A good hearty meal! Maybe a roast or new recipe I've been waiting to try.
πŸ‘« Quality time with my other half as its the only say we're off together.
πŸ™‡ Some form of downtime. Lately it's been a Christmas film in the evening but sometimes I do some yoga or bake.
πŸ€“ Time reflecting on my week just passed and planning for the week ahead.

What are the key components for your ideal Sunday??

Why hire a coach??

My OWN 4 month transformation speaks for itself.

This year after 2-3 years of going it alone I invested in a nutrition coach. I still followed my own training routine and I pretty much ate the same foods as before.

Do you know what I learnt?

βœ… I already had a good knowledge of food
βœ… All the skills and discipline were already there
βœ… ACCOUNTABILITY IS KEY

A coach is the accountability partner we all underestimate and all absolutely need. I have achieved more in the last 4-6 months than the last 2-3 years thanks to an external accountability partner and if there's ever a reason to work with another coach, it'll be that πŸ™Œ
