Mix our Wimbledon schools

Hello, we are a group of parents of Primary School aged children. We have been looking at the next step in our children’s educational journey. We feel that Wimbledon is unusual in its Secondary school make up and lacks choice in mixed s*x schools. We wonder if this is something others have also noticed?

We recommend reading The Paradox of Single-Sex and Co-Educational Schooling by Professors Alan Smithers and Pamela Robinson. The comprehensive research base and analysis unpicks many of the myths that perpetuate this topic.

Welcome to our page.

We call on Merton Local Authority to mix Rutlish and Ricards Lodge schools to create two Co-educational secondary schools that meet the needs of Wimbledon children emotionally, socially and academically.

Rutlish and Ricards Lodge are great outstanding secondary schools in Wimbledon but are single s*x. We feel this doesn’t represent today’s society. A co-educational setting would provide a basis for this.

We have been meeting with local MP Stephen Hammond, who advised us to start a petition and set up a formal group as part of the process.
