The first results of my teaching at the University of Gdańsk have come in, including survey feedback and initial statistics on a scale from 0 to 5. :)

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Andrzej Wajda, one of the most outstanding filmmakers in the history of world cinema. A film and theatre director, screenwriter, and set designer, he received an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement and the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for "Man of Iron". His major works include "Kanał", "Ashes and Diamonds", "The Promised Land", "Man of Marble", and "Katyń".

The son of Jakub Wajda, a Polish officer murdered by the NKVD in Kharkiv, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and graduated from the National Film School in Łódź.

Today at UG (the University of Gdańsk), where I teach Polish as a foreign language, my intensive course student and I had our last lesson before the festive break. OMG, they learned so many carols that they’ll probably be completely fed up with them! The good thing is that they really enjoyed the Christmas memory game. Christmas vocabulary mastered to the max!

During one of my recent lessons at the British school where I currently work, my pupils prepared drawings inspired by the poem “Choinka” by Ludwik Jerzy Kern. The task was to draw the picture by following the instructions described in the text and reflecting the poem’s form.
