Sensory play!

Fun morning making potions and medicine🧪

World Book Day 🌎📚

🐛 We enjoyed a Very Hungry Caterpillar inspired snack (minus the plums because of allergies).

This was a great activity to explore the book and also the theme of healthy eating.

It allowed the children to practice their fine motor skills and gave them the independence to choose the foods they would like for snack.

Emotion Spoons😁😭

During circle time with our Little Explorers we discussed our emotions. Together we spoke about the things that make us happy and sad.

We extended this into an art activity where the children each painted a spoon with a colour they associated with different emotions.

One of our Little Explorers chose blue for sad because ‘when we’re feeling sad we’re feeling blue’.



The spoons will now become a permanent feature on our shelves for the children to help the children let us know how they’re feeling!

Emengecy contact key-rings 🎒

At Little Explorers we have introduced emergency contact key-rings for the children to wear when we’re out and about.

🚶‍♀️For our walkers- they’ll be attached to the children’s bags.

🚼For our non-walkers- they’ll be attached to their coat zip.

We’ve introduced them as an extra safety measure. In the very unlikely event we become separated or even just leave a bag behind.

The key-rings have our personal numbers and the settings number to ensure we’re contactable.

Any child with medical needs, allergies etc will also have this information on their key-ring.

We had a fantastic afternoon exploring Hampstead Heath and the one o’clock club with our Little Explorers. 🌳

🧧 Chinese New Year 🧧

We had great fun celebrating and exploring Chinese New Year.

Our Little explorers had a meal of egg fried rice and prawn crackers. 🍚

One of our explorers built a dragon out of Lego 🐉

They worked together to paint a a red dragon 🎨

And finally they tried their hands at copying Chinese symbols 🧧

We’re so bad at keep up with our social media, we get too lost in the day to day action at Little Explorers and forget all about it 🤣

🎨 Mark-making 🎨

Since returning from the Christmas break our Little Explorers have been obsessed with mark-making!

Who knew a sofa delivery would end up being a fantastic opportunity to mark make?! Swipe to see the huge box that became the children’s ‘drawing room’ ➡️

❄️ SNOW DAY ❄️

This morning we have a garden full of fresh untouched snow. Excited for our Little Explorers to come and play!

So many opportunities for open ended play 🤩

Been a little quiet with the arrival of our littlest explorer👣💙

But we’re back and can’t wait to share all the exciting things we’ll be getting up to this month 🎄🤩
