Have you ever tried to explain to someone that a gentle summer breeze can feel like freezing ice, or that the light seam of a t-shirt feels like a deep, painful bruise?
π¬οΈβThis isn't imagination. This is the neurobiology of central sensitization.
Living with Fibromyalgia means your central nervous system is permanently stuck on high volume. Our sensory inputs aren't broken, it's our brain's internal amplifiers that are locked at 100%.
Harmless everyday environmental data like text on a phone screen, background chatter, or minor temperature changes are misprocessed by the spinal cord and amplified into intense physical pain (allodynia).
It is an exhausting way to live, draining our mental and input batteries before the day has even begun.
If you are battling severe sensory overload or fibro fog today, please remember you aren't being "over-sensitive." Your nervous system is just processing the world at maximum volume.

Have you ever enjoyed a gentle coffee with a friend, finished a light household chore, or simply sat outside in the sun, only to spend the next three days recovering in a dark room? βοΈβοΈ
This is the reality of the hidden energy tax.
When you live with Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS, absolutely nothing is free.
Every single physical, mental, or emotional activity requires an upfront loan of energy that we must pay back later with interest in the form of severe chronic pain and crushing neuro-fatigue.
Healthy people can do a task and move on. For chronic illness warriors, every choice is a direct calculation of how bad the inevitable flare-up will be.
You aren't being dramatic, and you aren't lazy for needing days of rest after a simple activity. Your body is just paying a mandatory biological bill.

Fibro fog isn't just standard forgetfulness or being "a bit distracted." It is a literal neurological disconnect.
It is staring right at a common object like a chair, knowing exactly what it does, but having your brain completely lose the word for it mid-sentence.
These language stalls can feel deeply isolating and frustrating when trying to communicate with the outside world. If your brain is buffering or running on a 1% input battery today, please know you are not alone.

Imagine waking up with the worst flu of your life, the deep body aches, the thick brain fog, the crushing exhaustion.
Now imagine that being your baseline reality every single morning, without actually being "sick."
This is the invisible, daily battle of living with Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS. You are not lazy. You are not exaggerating.
You are fighting a war inside your own nervous system.

This is the exact analogy I use when people ask what fibromyalgia actually feels like. It is a permanent flu without the fever. Imagine the day before you get layout-flat sick, but it never actually peaks, and it never actually leaves.
That is our baseline daily reality. π€π₯Pushing through a "permanent flu" takes an unbelievable amount of physical and mental strength. To every warrior doing normal life while feeling completely shuttered inside: you are incredible. π«β¨
