“Analyzing the Evolution of Non-Communicable Diseases in Egypt (1990–2021) and Forecasting Future Trends Using GBD Data”
🔍 Why does this matter?
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) remain the leading cause of mortality and long-term disability worldwide. This comprehensive analysis examined more than three decades of epidemiological trends in Egypt and forecasted future incidence patterns through 2030 using Global Burden of Disease (GBD) data and ARIMA forecasting models.
📈 Key Findings:
• Diabetes and kidney diseases (DKDs) showed the most dramatic increase, with incidence projected to rise by nearly 155% by 2030 compared with 1990 levels
• Cancer incidence increased steadily over the study period and is expected to continue rising through 2030
• Cardiovascular diseases demonstrated a persistent upward trend, particularly among males
• Chronic respiratory diseases previously declined but are projected to increase again in the coming years
• Significant sex-based disparities were identified, with females bearing higher burdens of diabetes/kidney diseases and cancer
