In the Commission’s survey, ¾ parents and teachers thought there should be no government tests in schools.
Other changes, such as phasing out the SATs, should be done over a longer period of time through close collaboration between teachers, researchers and policy makers.

We have met with experts and we’ve consulted widely with parents and teachers to produce recommendations that are based on evidence not ideology that will better serve children’s learning.
We’ve looked at many of the problems with the current education system, most worringly, the potential negative effects on children’s wellbeing.
