What do you think of this proposition? Should Oxford and Cambridge unis scrap interviews and use a different entry system for students?
''Two sociology professors have argued that the historic universities 'stranglehold on elite recruitment' needs to be broken.''
What are your thoughts??

The University of Oxford has been encouraged to make a major change to its admissions process.

Bonjour! Because the Perfect Tense is one of the most challenging tenses to grasp...

Here is an explaining in a nutshell.

If your child is doing GCSE French they absolutely need to MASTER this tense.
Any question please ask! ☺️

This is why I love my job SO much!

t has been another busy academic year and I haven't posted much.

As Summer is approaching, we recommend not to wait September to start getting French tutoring for your child. It's important to take a break but it's also a great opportunity to catch up on grammar, tenses and filling the gaps.

QUE ou QUI?
I've seen it be a point of confusion for some students and wanted to make a brief video about it. Let me know in the comments if this helps!

JOYEUX NOËL! 🎄

Merry Christmas to all of you!

I'm sharing this beautiful photo sent by my sister who lives in Guadeloupe, one of the Caribbean islands.
Did you know Guadeloupe is part of FRANCE? Yes, everyone speaks French over there.

One of my students told me that knowing that he could use his French in these gorgeous places has motivated him to study even more!

Sending sunshine and peace.

WANT TO KNOW A TOP TIP TO EXPAND YOUR VOCABULARY QUICKLY?

Often when starting a new topic, students learn the relevant vocabulary for that topic but when moving on to another topic, they often leave behind what they've learnt.
I see this as compartmentalising knowledge and you need to do exactly the opposite: create links within topics.

It's a fact that vocabulary sticks with practice and repetition, right?

One way you can optimise that practice and speed up your progress is by making a conscious effort to use the new vocabulary every time you express yourself, both in speaking and writing.

An example of this, would be the following. Imagine that you've learnt to say:
'J'aime beaucoup Londres' - (I love London), and this is now your solid basic go-to sentence when wanting to express this idea.
Then you approach a new topic where you learn 'Londres me plaît beaucoup'.

This second phrase means exactly the same thing as the first one except that it shows more variety of language, and, since it is an expression that us French people use a lot, it's a really useful and relevant phrase to know.

Simply knowing what the second phrase means is not enough. Make a point of now using it all the time so it becomes your new baseline.

No longer say 'j'aime beaucoup' but instead use' ça me plaît'.

This is one example and there are lots of opportunities when to apply this!🙂

Bonjour!

Would you like your child to get 9s in their GCSEs?

Perhaps you dream of sending your child to a top college or university? Maybe even Oxford or Cambridge?

And in order to do this working hard in the core subjects is no longer enough because it has become so competitive.

A lot of students are now starting to realise that there is a new core subject as important as English and Maths: a second language. A 9 in a second language at GCSE is what will set you apart from the thousands of other students applying to the top colleges and universities.

And the ability to remember and use the language after GCSEs can be the difference in any kind of academic or job related application.

I'm Karine Friez, and I've helped over 300 students master GCSE French over the last 8 years so they can:

✔︎ Efficiently learn and retain all of the vocabulary they are given in school by using specific techniques

✔︎ Master all of the grammatical tenses that will come up in the exam

✔︎ Write and speak French like a natural

How great would it feel to see your child achieve an 8 or 9 in such a key language that they can also use with fluency outside of the classroom?

If you'd like to know some grade 9 secrets that the top students are using, book a FREE consultation below. Spaces are limited and are on a first come first serve basis!

You will find out how I help my students stand out from the competition by getting a grade 9 in GCSE French, so they can get into a top university like they deserve to!
