Biomime would like to say a BIG Thank you to the British Science Festival in Partnership with British Science Festival, Year of Science at the University of East London for hosting our event this year. We are grateful forall your support that helped us with planning and coordinating our event this year. We are proud to have been a part of such a wonderfully executed multi scale, and ambitious science project and hope that we have managed in our small capacity to inspire interest in the wonderful world of science.
This year we hosted a workshop titled "Design for Decomposition" that explored nature-inspired ideas for tackling the pressing challenge of textile waste in the fashion industry. With your invaluable help, British Science Association, we're hopeful that we were able to inspire new ways of thinking about how to address the problem of excessive textile waste, using nature as our mentor and guide. More details on this workshop and our future events will be forthcoming. We look forward to future collaborations.

Modern urbanized spaces we inhabit look similar and share a few key features :
They distance us from the Nature, from each other and relay heavily on mechanical cooling and heating systems to keep us comfortable. Around 40% of energy consumption and emission is produced by the building we live in as we stive for thermal comfort.
At Biomime we like passive cooling solutions for a more sustainable, energy efficient living. People living in hotter climates such as India and Middle East have traditional building systems that incorporate passive cooling by combining Jaali’s and Courtyards to optimise the flow of heat and air circulating through a building.
What is a Jaali and how has it been inspired by Nature?
Jaali ( a web/net) we see in Indo-Islamic, and Islamic architecture. are ornamental perforated screens.
Inspired by honeycomb patterns bees use in building their homes they are designed as delicate structures that allow light and ventilation. Air is sucked through the small holes increasing in velocity, similar to the function of a funnel generating air conditioner compressor effect.

Imagine a Nature Centered Life and how it compares to the one we dwell in right now? How much do the aesthetics of the buildings and the towns we live in influence our state of being- emotional, mental, and physical? Do the spaces we live in calm our bodies, mind, and soul?
It seems like in the past we made buildings considering location, climate and culture of the people that will use them. Do we still do this or has this Art being all but lost? Should it be revived for our own wellbeing? Would this be possible and how?

The natural world solves problems with well-adapted designs, eco-friendly chemistry, and smart material and energy choices.

What is Biomimicry?

- A way of looking at nature models in biology and ecology to inspire design and engineering solutions for our everyday environmental and social challenges.

Why Biomimicry?

- Nature is infinitely wiser than us and by observing her strategies and functions we can learn a great deal but also emulate these to help us design to address our own problems.

How Biomimicry?

We start off with defining what problem exactly do we want our design to help solve. Then we put the problem into a biological question i.e. ‘How would nature solve this?’. We look at various strategies applied in Nature before re-applying it to our own design prototype. Finally, we evaluate our design to assess if it’s fit for function.

Biomime UK tim je odlučio ovu učenicu obradovati personaliziranim poklonom (torbicom) koju je za nas uradio , Privredno društvo za zapošljavanje osoba sa invaliditetom.

Ovaj predivni tim sa svojom osvajajućom energijom uvijek ostvaruje lijepu saradnju sa članovima našeg tima, zbog čega im se stalno vraćaju, te se nadamo uspješnoj saradnji i ubuduće.

Nadamo se da smo uspjeli dizajnirati unikatan poklon, koji će obradovati našu učenicu i ostaviti lijep trag u njenom sjećanju na prvu školu biomimikrije u Bosni i Hercegovini.

U Biomime online školu upisano preko 150 učenika » Biomime Preko 150 učenika upisalo je online školu biomimikrije. Uskoro počinju i online predavanja, a najbolji će biti pripremljeni za veliko globalno takmičenja Biomimicry Global Design Challenge 2021.
