🌟 Happy Rakhi / Raksha Bhandan to everybody celebrating today 🌟

Rakhi/ Raksha Bhandan is a celebration of the love and bond siblings have for one another. Traditionally the Rakhi string, once tied, symbolised a brother protecting his sister throughout their lifetime. This tradition has remained, and developed to be a celebration of both sisters and brothers.

At Smilers, we made some Rakhis using lots of different materials 🎉

This week, we really enjoyed looking at different ways to recycle old materials. We melted down old crayons to make some wax cupcakes 🧁

We had fun making a rocket by recycling lots of different materials. 3...2...1...LIFT OFF 🚀

This week we hosted our very own Smilers Karaoke, taking it in turns to sing our favourite songs 🎤🎶

**The microphone was cleaned in between turns of each child, to ensure we are keeping COVID safe.

We had an amazing day celebrating our 'Class of 2021'. This year has been a turbulent one where our children have had to adapt to lots of changes, and they took it in their stride, becoming more resilient along the way. We are so proud of all our Smilers children and wish them the best of luck in the next chapter of their lives.

As we reach the end of term, we have been overwhelmed by the amount of kindness we have received from our Smilers parents and carers. It has been a difficult year to navigate and we have could not have done it without your support.
