Not sure about you but it’s blowing my mind that we only have under two months of the year left.
The last month or so has been a huge inward journey for me, oh hello Scorpio season.
One thread that I have kept coming back to is keeping my promises to myself, even when, especially when things don’t turn out how you expect.
So getting up and going for that walk even though it’s raining, or meditating for 10 breaths not 10 minutes.
That’s how you build consistency.
That’s how you build trust with yourself.
And without that trust you aren’t going to stick to these things when it gets hard.
So practice when it’s easy, if it doesn’t feel easy, pull back a little but never completely.
Keeping these promises to ourselves can help keep us balanced and live intentionally.
With the changing seasons and being fully in autumn we often feel ready for a change in habits too so this really is a great time to reassess.
I recently re-considered which habits I wanted to commit to, so let me share how I came up with which what would serve me best.
⏰ Choose which time of day you want to create a routine around. For me, it was morning and then when I get ready for bed.
❣️Tap into how you want to FEEL in these moments. This sets an emotional intention behind the habit. For example, in the morning I want to feel energised and connected to myself, and in the evening I want to feel calm and clear-headed. Often people miss this step, but completing this part of the process gives you a WHY behind your routine.
🧘🏽♀️ Then consider which habits will have you ACHIEVE these feelings. Do you get that feeling of calm when you meditate, or when you go for a walk? If your intention is to have some time to yourself, how would you most enjoy spending it? Perhaps reading or a bath?
✍🏾 Create a menu of habits to choose from if you prefer a bit of flexibility in your routine. Having options can help you feel you’ve got some choice and not like it’s a “should” that then becomes something self-punishing!
