This event has been so successful for several years now. It is a hotspot for advice, support and signposting.

Locking Primary School will be getting involved for World Mental Health Day next week, on Friday 9th October 🥳

This special day raises awareness of the importance of mental health and well-being 🥰

Children are invited to wear 1 yellow item with their uniform: socks, hats, hair bands, or a yellow jumper 💛🌼⭐
As always, children can engage with changing the uniform as suits them. We know wearing something a out of routine can worry children so this is not compulsory if it's going to cause more worry.

Green Mental Health Awareness Ribbons can be purchased on ParentPay also - please note that we cannot accept cash for these. These will then be handed out to children on Friday 9th October to wear with pride 💚

We have been asked by North Somerset Council and Avon and Somerset Police to share this important video with you.

Both authorities have seen a huge increase in young people venturing into adandoned buildings. So-called Urban Exploring, or Urbex, is being seen daily in this area. It is risky, illegal and dangerous.

Please take time to talk to your children about this, especially those old enough to be out by themselves.

In Treeops we have been learning the months of the year and seasons. We have been learning which months are in which seasons. Today we learnt about harvest time. We visited the school allotment and harvested our own apples and pears. Then we had fun tasting them and comparing the different types of apple.

Elm class have been thinking about solids, liquids and gases in Science. This week, they turned a liquid into a solid using freezing - and in the process made their own ice cream! Those faces tell us this tasted good too!

Oooh we spotted this too late to share for this evening's session but the workshop is being run again next week.

Children are never too young to be exploited unfortuntely and it can be really hard for them to see the signs. It is always best for their adults to be as informed as possible as how this might look.

Our staff have received training from Andri before and found it engaging and eye-opening.

This coming Thursday is Census Day! But what is Census Day I hear you ask?! 👂🫵

Census Day is an important day for the school as the government collects data from schools on this day and decides some of the funding for the year based on the results 🪙

The census collects information about the number of children who have a school meal on 1st October. The more children in these year groups who have a school meal on this day, the more funding schools can receive 💷💷

Therefore, we encourage all parents and carers of children to put their child down for a school meal on this day
