Research results are in for the massive honey bee die-off s in America last winter - and it looks like excessive chemical treatments have given the varroa mites resistance to the treatment. At Brecon Beecombs we try to stay as natural as possible with more control - allowing swarms (which creates a mite break); oxalic acid treatment (only if signs of varroa); sufficient raw honey supplies through the winter (not sugar solution or fondant if possible). Let's hope here in the UK we can move away from chemicals and back to Nature's own remedies.
