English isn’t just a subject. It’s a skill that can open doors.
Over the years, I’ve worked with both professionals and children studying within international and British school settings, helping them become more confident, capable communicators.
Something I’ve noticed time and time again is that knowing English and being able to use English effectively are two very different things.
For professionals, this might mean:
• Writing clear, professional emails and reports
• Communicating confidently in meetings
• Understanding specialist terminology
• Developing academic or professional vocabulary
• Feeling more confident when speaking with colleagues, clients or international teams
For children, particularly those attending international British schools, it can mean developing the language skills they need to succeed across the curriculum.
Research consistently shows that vocabulary knowledge, reading comprehension and strong communication skills are closely connected to academic achievement. Building these skills gradually, rather than relying solely on exam preparation, can make a significant difference.
That’s why I take a personalised approach to tutoring. I look at where the learner is now, where they want to go, and what skills will actually help them get there.
