Tutoring Children in Care Homes
We’re proud to introduce tuition sessions, designed specifically for children in care. These sessions blend the benefits of personalised 1:1 support at the comfort of their own home—helping young people build confidence, develop social connections, and thrive both academically and emotionally.
At Ocean Tuition, we understand that children living in care homes often face unique challenges in their education. Many have experienced disruptions to their schooling, gaps in learning, or emotional barriers that can impact their confidence in the classroom. That’s why our approach goes beyond traditional tutoring—we provide consistent, nurturing, and highly personalised support tailored to each young person’s needs.
A Personalised Approach to Every Child
Every child we work with is treated as an individual. Our tutors take the time to understand each learner’s background, strengths, and areas for development. Whether delivering 1:1 sessions or small group tuition within care home settings, we adapt our teaching to suit different learning styles and abilities.
Building Trust Through Consistency
For children in care, trust is everything. Our tutors are experienced in working within care environments and understand the importance of building strong, reliable relationships. By being consistent, patient, and approachable, we create safe learning spaces where young people feel comfortable, supported, and ready to engage.
Learning That Builds Confidence and Belonging
Our small group sessions are carefully structured to encourage collaboration without overwhelming learners. By working alongside peers in similar situations, students can develop social skills, feel a sense of belonging, and realise they are not alone in their experiences. This balance of individual attention and group interaction is key to building confidence.
Encouraging Independence and Voice
At Ocean Tuition, we empower young people by giving them a voice in their learning. From choosing topics to exploring different ways of solving problems, we encourage independence and decision-making—helping students regain a sense of control and ownership over their education.
Flexible, Trauma-Informed Support
We recognise that every day can be different for a child in care. Our tutors use a flexible, trauma-informed approach, adjusting sessions to meet emotional and academic needs. Whether that means slowing down, revisiting key concepts, or simply providing reassurance, we meet each child where they are.
Celebrating Every Achievement
Progress looks different for every child. At Ocean Tuition, we celebrate all achievements—big or small. Whether it’s improved engagement, increased confidence, or academic progress, we make sure every success is recognised and valued.
Our Commitment
Ocean Tuition is dedicated to supporting children and young people in care homes to re-engage with education, rebuild confidence, and unlock their full potential. Through a combination of 1:1 and small group tuition, we provide a supportive environment where every learner has the opportunity to succeed.

📚✨ Struggling with maths at primary level? We’ve got a great recommendation! ✨📚
At Ocean Tuition, we often support children who find number work challenging — and one resource we highly recommend is the Maths No Problem: Master Maths at Home book sets.
These books are:
✅ Very visual and colourful
✅ Broken down into clear, step-by-step explanations
✅ Designed to show different methods for solving the same problem
This is especially helpful for children who may struggle with one method — they can explore alternative ways until something clicks!💡
From building confidence with numbers to mastering addition and subtraction, these books are a fantastic support for primary-aged learners.
🛒 Currently available at Costco for just £9.99 for a set of 6 books — amazing value!
❗️ Please note: we are not sponsored by Maths No Problem — we simply recommend resources we genuinely see working with our students.
If your child needs extra support with maths, feel free to get in touch with us at Ocean Tuition 💙

Let's Start With What Matters Most – Understanding Your Child!
Before we dive into tutoring sessions, we always make sure every child has a full assessment – and here's why it's such a game-changer for their learning journey!
The Benefits of Starting With an Assessment
- We pinpoint exactly where they are now – no guessing if they're ahead in some areas or need extra support in others. It helps us avoid teaching material they already know or moving too fast through concepts they haven't grasped.
- We uncover how they learn best – some kids are visual learners, others thrive with hands-on activities, and some need more time to process information. Knowing this from day one means lessons are tailored to their unique style.
- We set clear, realistic goals together – with baseline results in hand, we can create a roadmap that makes sense for your child, and track their progress every step of the way.
- We build trust from the start – assessments aren't tests to pass or fail. They're a chance for me to get to know your child as a learner, understand their strengths and any worries they might have about their studies.
What to Expect
Our assessment is relaxed and low-pressure – think of it as a friendly chat with some fun activities mixed in. We'll cover key areas relevant to their needs, and afterwards, I'll sit down with you to share what we've discovered and outline a personalized tutoring plan.
Every child deserves support that fits them perfectly – and an assessment is how we make that happen!
