💫 🏢Last week, young people with SEND from across Knowsley took over QVC UK's Knowsley site for a Dragons’ Den Pop‑Up Sale Day

After pitching their ideas back in November, students from local SEND schools and colleges brought their products to life - running stalls, serving customers and raising money for their chosen charities. 🛒

🤝The event was delivered through partnership working between Knowsley Council, QVC UK, schools, colleges and support staff, with the aim of creating a meaningful, real life learning experience that supports young people to develop skills for the future.

Yesterday, our Careers and Transition Team enterprise group - 'Team Fidget' - was invited to a Dragon’s Den Pop-Up Market at QVC. After pitching their product ideas a few months ago, the students were given the exciting opportunity to run their own stall and sell directly to customers.

It was a brilliant experience and our student's hard work paid off as they made lots of sales! Well done 'Team Fidget'!👏

🏆🏆🏆

We’re proud to be announced as the winner of the 'Innovative use of technology' category at the 2026 Natspec Innovation Awards.

A huge thank you to Natspec for recognising and celebrating innovation across the sector and for highlighting the impact of technology in removing barriers and improving outcomes for our learners with SEND.

Category judge Tim Coughlan said:

“Through this project, Activate enhanced the potential for learners to take part in activities ranging from food preparation to craft and games. They showed that there was so much creative thinking by staff and students in considering how these controllers can be employed. You could see it was both very practical and a lot of fun.”

Safer Internet Day is an opportunity to highlight the importance of staying safe online.

At Activate, our students are always developing skills to help them use the internet safely and responsibly, including:

🔒 How to keep personal information private
🛑 When to stop and not reply
🚫 How to block and report
🗣️ Why it’s always OK to tell a trusted adult

We are committed to supporting our students to feel confident, informed, and safe when using digital technology.

Do you know how to keep your social media accounts private and secure? SWGfL - Safe, Secure, Online have created easy checklists to help you and your young person stay safe online.
