Teamwork makes the dream work! We love how this Saturday group works so well together – they offer so much support and encouragement and are so kind. What a delight to teach.

πŸ’€In PSHE, our daytime students have been looking at the importance of good sleep hygiene. So many teenagers struggle with this. Phones and devices before bed are the biggest disrupter to our sleep.

πŸ‘‰Educating students about this and encouraging them to set their own targets for sleep can help.

🎧We asked students to pick just ONE change to make this week. One chose turning her phone off completely overnight to resist the temptation to check alerts. Another chose listening to calming music on headphones before bed.

πŸ‘Let's see how they get on!

If you've been to the centre in the daytime, it's likely you will have met Yuri – owner Marg's very own Romanian rescue dog.

He's our very own PP mascot. Do you have a rescue dog? If so, please feel free to flood the comments below with cute pictures!

πŸ‘‰ Did you know nearly 1 in 4 students taking Maths and English GCSEs (23.4%) were aged 17 or older?

πŸ‘‰ Many adults find that functional skills are all the qualifications they need for the job they want.

πŸ‘‰ In England, schools are heavily structured around GCSE results. League tables, progress measures, and accountability frameworks often focus on GCSE outcomes, so schools prioritise those qualifications and don't give students the option of functional skills.

πŸ‘‰ We offer functional skills for daytime students but are thinking of running sessions from September for all Year 10s and 11 who want to go to college with a qualification already under their belt AND try to sit their GCSE in school.

What do you think? Would you be interested? Should all schools offer this as an option? Let us know in the comments.

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸŒŸ WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK πŸŒŸπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

Did you know that this week is National Walk to School Week?

We're celebrating the benefits of walking to school and encouraging families to leave the car at home where possible! πŸ’š

Walking to school is important because it helps children:

βœ… Stay active and healthy
βœ… Improve focus and concentration in class
βœ… Build confidence and independence
βœ… Enjoy fresh air and social time with friends
βœ… Reduce traffic and pollution around schools 🌍

We're encouraging our teachers to ditch the car for walking (or a bike!)

Will your family be taking part this week? Let us know below! πŸ’¬
